Mazda2 TS engine noise when cold

Great car, bought one for my wife and liked it so much that I got one all for myself. BUT - MINE makes a knocking/rattling engine noise accelerating normally between about 1500-2000 rpm until reaching normal operating temp. Both cars are new with only 300 miles on each. Dealer says its an "OPERATING NOISE" !!! I asked why, of the 4 similar cars I've driven is it ONLY MINE that makes that noise? The dealer AND Customer Services are just not helping and suggest that the noise "should go away when it's run in - about 1000miles" I regard the noise as a symptom of some condition that just should not be. Apart from PISTON SLAP, any thoughts on what it could be - AND - How do I get MAZDA (anywhere!) to correct it. Yes, the Dealer Service man and his mechanic have heard it but no resolution offered!!!

Mazda 2 TS Engine noise (PISTON SLAP) when cold - NEW CAR !!!Dealership advise that a "technician from Mazda" will come to evaluate the noise - waiting for the weather to improve. Having discussed the problem with Trading Standards etc and reviewed Sale of Goods Act 1979, I will NOT accept any action to repair the fault ( I just don't trust them to get it right) but will want either a full refund or a replacement car. Quite entitled to either.

Further to my previous about Mazda2(is that your PREMIO?) PISTON SLAP, still no resolution - Mazda sent an "engineer" to hear it on roadtest. His report was a total nonsense but he's apparently trying to show that the LOUD SLAP/KNOCK is just a light rattle and is normal ON A NEW CAR WHEN COLD. We have a word here that starts with a B and ends in KS. Mazda UK have just crashed as far as I'm concerned. Would you buy a Mazda? Their promises and claims about Quality and customer satisfaction just went down the toilet. Their slogan - ZOOM ZOOM should be KNOCK KNOCK.
