Is this possible, and will it sound good? I would like to get a sub, without messing with all the stereo controls etc. Can anyone suggest what I need to purchase and give any general advice, if it is possible?

I am also interested.
I love the look of the stock stereo however as far as I know there are no Sub outputs in the stock system.
I've heard of a lot of people using RCA adapters to wire an Amp in but splicing wire from the speakers to the sub will make them sound like crap.
Unless someone knows of an adapter that cancels out any noise I don't think its possible with the stock system.
As far as I know though replacing the stock system in the 2 is fairly easy just time consuming.

I did see those responses, and I am looking for more input, instead of thread jacking. I appreciated your opinion, but I was hoping that people would post links like Surly did.

Thanks :)

ya all i needed was what was in the box for the basstube, and a line out thinger that the auto shop put in for me! once i clean out my hatch, ill take a pic and post it!

Hey Surly, I'd appreciate that thanks! And kcdirtbro, thanks for the links. Now I have to decide which one I want to buy haha.

Okay just to confirm Kc, all I need to buy is the two links you provided me and I'll be set? I'm going to have a friend help install, but just want to make sure I order the right stuff!

Oh and Kc, that converter had some bad reviews, have you used that one specifically? Some people said it provided crappy sound, some said it was awesome lol.. you think I should go with it?

I haven't used that one specifically. There are other brands that make those out there. They should all be around the 15-30 dollar range. I've installed many different ones in cars over the years. They all sounded about the same to me. When it comes to my personal cars, I don't use them. If I'm going to do a sub/amp in my own car, I will put an aftermarket head unit in. But it is all in how you setup the settings on the converter, amp and head unit in how good the car sounds.
But to answer your question. IF ordering from Crutchfield, those 2 links is all you'll need. OR if you buy the Basslink from Amazon, you'll also have to purchase an amp wiring kit (8g kit is fine for just the Basslink) and, of course, the converter. That answer everything for ya?

Yeah thanks kc, I'm going to purchase both of the things you described today! Got a 10% off coupon code so the total was a little less than 200$ for everything :). Pretty excited!
