I hope this will get Mazda attention too, and start pumping out some real Mazdaspeed 5... 2.5 turbo 6 speeds manual with optional 4WD.... (drive2)

Seeing as I have a kid now and I need more room, the mazdaspeed 5 would be almost the perfect vehicle for me. Do it already mazda!

Dear Mazda,

You should build a factory Mazda speed5. Guys with families who like to go fast will thank you.

Sincerely,

Donas64.

We yesterday rocked and today not so much.... Yesterday we finished 8th and 13th at Mid America putting us to 9th overall 1st in class ...today we finished 28th and 25th at Hallett ...still first in class (first) but dropped to 13th overall ( out of 68 ) ... at Tulsa drag tonight but have not seen any scoring yet ( not betting on a great finish here car is built to handle curves and road course not go go real fast in a straight line ) ...On a bright note feel good about making up time for the rest of the races, Gateway and New Jersey should be ok and Mid Ohio and Nelson Ledges are both very very familiar to Jason Saini ( who will drive both of those courses ) .... and the dry skid on the last day ( we finished 4th over all in wet skid ) .... Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Awesome Updates...Much appreciated, keep kickin' ass AUTOBARN MAZDA! The Mazdas247.com Community is cheering you on...(rockon) (drive)

Thanks again for validating the love I have for my 5. Your pioneering attitude toward exploiting the Zoom-Zoom to the 5's maximum potential makes me proud to be part of the Mazda family.

While I will likely never take the opportunity to clip any race-track apexes, it's nice to know that I'm only a speed3 transplant away from Z06 huntin'. :)

You said it! 100% AGREE! (thumb)

Mazdaspeed5: It's coming for JOOOOOO!!!!!

NICE! Hope to see a real factory version someday! :D

Judging by the comments generated by our first 2010 One Lap post, Richard Fisher and Jason Saini's Mazda5 is something of a fan favorite. The two-box minivan is more than just a curiosity, however, what with its shoehorned-in Mazdaspeed3 drivetrain, full rollcage and stripped interior. Evidently late for soccer practice, the Mazda Mommymobile pedaled its way to a fantastic eighth place finish in round one and a thoroughly credible 13th place finish in round two at Mid America.

Fan Favorite...How can you NOT dig a swapped & boosted racing Mazda5...No doubt the latest Member to join the League of awesome racing mini-vans!

Mazda & Mazda USA...I hope you're reading this!!!

Bring on a concept version to gauge interest ASAP!!!

I'm sure you're not alone...I think there is a definite market here for an affordable family hauler with seriously sporty intentions wrapped in a fun, stylish yet practical package...Include cool tech and solid mpg stats and you've got a WINNER...MAZDA!?!? ;)

14.2 in the 1/4 mile, right between a Mustang and a Camaro SS, love it!

(woowoo)

im seriously thinking about buying a used 5 and a turbo kit... then swapping the tranny for a speed tranny.... hmmm now just to find the money to do so lol

Unless you are drag racing, I dont think you would need to upgrade the tranny, it should hold together. IMHO I think that if you are doing this swap for a daily driver, fitting a CX-7 motor makes more sense since its tuned for better midrange and not peak HP.

Thank you Autobarn team for letting me drool around and for the quick ride. You have given me and the rest of us hope, LOL

I took the day off and drove down to the park this morning. It was totally worthy. My quick conclusions:

  • Looks awesome
  • Sounds awesome
  • Rides awesome
  • Handles awesome
  • Thanks but no thanks, now my people movers feel awfully slooooow :D
  • That track is definitely too slow for your car ;)

Thanks again, a pleasure to have met you. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next road trip around the area!

What wheels are those and what are the specs? They look pretty aggressive, but not too aggressive (no poke). They look like the specs I'm looking for. I already know what wheels I want for my 5, I'm just trying to determine what specs to get.

While I love the Speed5 creation Autobahn has built and is racing, I do not support the call to Mazda for a factory version. Mazda, along with most other manufactuers, has continuously developed their products out of affordability.

Around here (Canada), 3's and 5's start around 20 000 dollars, and Speed3's are in the low 30's. Even a 3 GT with leather is close to 30K. And look at the thread for prices paid. One of the last entries includes a Canadian 5 GT with auto trans for 32K out the door. Imagine how much a Speed5 would command, as you know that Mazda would begin with the GT as a platform for the Speed5 if it were to be built.

I agree with other posters in this thread who suggest adding a turbo or transplanting the CX7 powertrain into a 5. When I consider potential successors to the 5, there are no candidates out there (Hyundai Elantra Touring Wagon? Sigh...) that meet my requirements for affordable, sporty, spacious, and cool looking. Do not take away my 5 by dragging it beyond my financial reach.

He took the corner faster than the following ferrari (thought it was at 1st glance) in that 1st vid) but then again he ran off the road a bit. This 5 is nuts in a good way. Congrats on living a ton of peoples dream on this forum.

From way back on page 7: 255 35 18 's Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec on Enkei race wheels
We should have a full spec list somewhere (maybe in the first post) so people can have a reference.
I have a question: What pedal set is that?

I already know about the first set of wheels, the RPF1's. I was referring to the second set, the ones they actually raced on. I guess I should have clarified that.
