mazda sitting on lot?

Sorry if this is being reposted, first attempt I dont see.

A few dealers near me, seem to have a rather large selection(at least on mazda 5 2006,s)
I have been offered prices less then invoice.
Question I have, is that in the mid atlantic states we have four good seasonal changes.
Some of these vehicles I dont think have been moved or started in a year. They have less then twenty miles on them.
Anything wrong with purchasing such a vehcile. Some things that may concern me , are

1) Flatspotting of tires, since hardly moved.

2) Drying out of hoses and causing leakage in the future, especially with the air conditioning system, which needs to be run weekly to keep hoses lubricated.

3) Only a few gallons of gas in tank, which can cause bad gas, condensation of water, and cause all kind of problems in the future.

4) Bolts, and linkages and everything else in vehicle has been unmoved and unlubricated.

Any comments appreciated. Stay safe

If there is flatspotting on the tires the dealership should replace them, no questions asked.

If you need to run the A/C that often to keep it running properly I'm screwed :P

I have heard of cars sitting on the lot getting bad gas, but usually just filling the tank and resetting the ECU fixes any CELs and stuff.

Bolts and linkages and stuff.. yeah I wouldn't imagine that it would be a good thing to just sit there frozen for a year. I'm pretty sure the cars don't actually sit there for that long, but you can always ask them for the date that they took delivery of the car to be sure.

I cant speak for OTHER dealerships however I know here... We move our vehicles about once a week/every other week to run them through the wash, etc. So our vehicles DO move even if they end up in the same spot.

Actually Im watching our lot guy move the MX-5s as I type, to be washed.

I would be curious and amazed if other dealers didnt do the same.

I highly doubt there will be any of the problems you're worried about. Even if they've had it for a year, which I doubt, the thing doesn't get put down in one spot and forgotten about until someone wants to buy it.

If you're that worried about lubrication, I know a big boat that likes to carry Mazdas, and they'll get everything nice and wet for you.

Don't have to be concerned about these things. As B1GHAM mentions, vehicles are often moved around anyways (although there may be a vehicle here and there on a lot which may not have had much movement). But even if a vehicle hasn't been moved these issues are not a concern.

1) Tires come from the factory over-inflated for this reason.

2) Not a concern

3) Fuel systems are pretty sealed up (emissions reasons more than anything else).

4) Anything that required lubrication (e.g. door mechanisms) will have lubrication from the factory

With a new vehicle of older VIN, what you should do is ensure any applicable TSB's (and obviously recalls) are applied upon delivery.

1) it has happened before.. 2002 Nissan Altimas equipped with Continental ContiTouring tires.. but they just have a TSB for it.

Can I ask you this.... did you ask the dealer when they landed on his lot????

Secondly are you sure all the cars you see are indeed 2006 models.

Yes 100 per cent positive all 10 on lot are 2006. I dont think they have moved one mazda 5 in at least three months.

No, I didnt ask the dealer when he received them. They appear all grouped together, but surrounded by multiple rows of other mazdas and subarus. It looks like to move on of the mazda 5,s he would hve to move at least four other vehicles to get to it. They seem to have the protectorant papers on the body as well, or whatever mazda uses to protect the car in transit.

Well in the VIN the 10th digit is the model year....6=2006

Just ask the dealer when they came in.... I assure you they are a great deal and doesn't matter if they did sit for a year IMO
