2003.5 MSP
My MSP was one of the many lost in '09 :( and I miss it like crazy. Im still carless and have been saving up so Im in the market for another car.

A friend at a body shop is selling an '04 RX-8 that was crashed in the front but just cosmetics. The car has 61,xxx miles and he said he will be willing to sell it completely fixed for $6500. What do you guys think?

How reliable are these cars with those miles?

I'm in illinois i got a yellow 2003.5 MSP forsale just rolled 89,000 miled still on orginal motor/trans. all stock but a CAI/Forge BPV. im asking 6,000 OBO for it. i can some pictures tommorow for you in the day light if you want. body is really clean, exterior is clean, car runs good after i put 2,700 into fixing it. all it needs is a Nuetral Safety Switch now and has a small VAC leak but ill fix that.

Don't buy a RX8 man, high maintenance car. Worst mileage ever too considering the motor size. I know they have good power, but it's not a exciting car to drive, they just rev for ever. Nice looking with a simple side skirt, but IMO not worth it. I was looking at them before too, and it's just not worth it. I have my MSP for sale as well. Cheap, built, runs great.

dont buy the rx-8.. i had one.. traded it for the msp.. the whopping 8-10mpg and they are slow as hell stock.. 04s had a lot of little quirks.. thats what year mine was.. and damn did it use oil.. buy ^^^^^^^^^ that guys msp

Gotta love a car that intentionally injects oil into the motor....most people don't know that, then blow a Apex seal. EVERY time you get gas, you're supposed to check the oil with RX8's.

A FD is no more reliable than a MSP...haha. Go on Rx7Club.com and see how many FC's and FD's have been rebuilt, in many cases several times. I love rotary though, very neat. And s***, FD's are sexy....

$6500 is a really good price. I'll deliver my car for that and take the 8.. provided its manual. lol

04 rx8's had a problem with the oil coolers

I think it was fixed after 06. Don't let your friend tell you any diffferent.

thats automatics only.

they're not a torquey car, so they don't "feel" fast... whip the wheel and you'll feel something a lot different.

damn definitely driving my away from the rx8 :(
don't let em scare you off. do your own research.
If you want a Rotary, buy an old FC3S Turbo II that's been rebuilt.
this is how I'd do it if I was goin rotary.
I don't know about that. I would take a nice FD RX-7 over a MSP any day.
on anything resembling a similar budget? good luck!

I agree, they're about on the same reliability plane.. if you maintain your rotary properly, it'll treat you well. if you're stupid... much like an MSP, you'll have nothing but problems.

You really have to be on top of general maintenance more than with most cars. Great cars, amazing power considering displacement, and the sound is fantastic. The problem is, I think they are one of the hardest cars to find unmolested, and a lot of people mod them with no taste. Buying a FC is like..you better have a fresh motor, fuel system, exhaust, ...they're just so old and beat.

hmmm wagonbacker..... thanks for that... i will.. im gonna be posting on rx8club.com to see.. its a 2004 VR RX-8 6-speed, leather, 18" wheels and all ... 60k miles.. $6500 or cheaper! im gona do my research and test the car as well

yeah... seriously buy it, if you don't like it, I'll trade you. lol I have family in orlando and a friend I need to visit in tampa.

i would probably buy the rx8 my friend bought one and he loves it! if you dont have to worry about snow i would think its a good car. only problem is fouling plugs if you give it gas while trying to start it, at least that what i heard.
