I have been complaining to my dealer about the crazy navi-ipod fiasco weekly, so i got a call today.

Mazda released a major update today - dealer install only.

you have to ask for it, they are hesitant until you push it. But the dealer told me it is a overhaul of the current system.

I am scheduled to have it done Monday. It is a firmware and software update combined.

Keeping positive on this...

I wonder if this is for all versions of the Navigation system. I have a '13 and would love some improvements.

Well, I guess it would help if we knew exactly what to ask for. If the dealers really are so hesitant to even acknowledge the availability of an update/repair, I can pretty much predict their reply if I called and said "I heard there was an update today, but I don't know what it is and how to get it." :)

i was told it fix the iPod restart at beginning problem...and erratic routing.

Well Mazda South (Austin, Tx) says, nope nothing for my CX5/2015 VIN comes up. He knew what I was talking about since he knew of the 2014 Tom Tom/infotainment update. Which he says the 2015 has that update out of the factory.

If you do have a CX5 2015, you should be able to call your service department for the numbers for the update. Heck, give me your dealer number (or location) and I'll call them up!

Nope Nope Nope, earlier this year, there was a TSB for the Nav, but it's only an update, they're doing the TomTom update for you if the customer hasn't done it themselves yet.
Again, this is nothing special, you can do it at home.

I will find out this week

It is probably 10.852

Nah, it's an older version. There was a TSB on the TomTom for dealers to update, it was an update earlier this year, I think 851, one of the major updates that relaxed the "safety lock" feature.

Version 10.851
(Mazda Navigation System NB1)

We have improved the functionality of the safety lock.
Zoom options are now available in the Location Preview screen.
This release fixes an issue where you may be shown a blue screen.
This release fixes a GPS firmware update issue.
This release fixes an issue where you may have been unintentionally returned to the audio screen.

Version 10.852
(Mazda Navigation System NB1)

The system is now more robust if the 'mapsettings.tlv' file gets corrupted.
Extra error information is available in the Network connection status screen.
We have fixed some bugs related to the Safety Lock (USA only).

10.853 was only out for a short period in June but got pulled...
(Mazda Navigation System NB1).
The system is now more robust if the POI ‘ov2’ file gets corrupted.
The system is now more robust if the ‘packedephemeris.ee’ file gets corrupted.
This release fixes an issue where LIVE traffic may get interrupted after a border crossing.
This release fixes a bug in our map positioning software that caused the device to restart.

Dealer installed updates is BS unless they are changing the hardware! All software updates are available through Tom Tom home.
