mazda MX-3 need tranny help! I can't find one!

Hey,
I really need to find an 5 speed tranny for my mx3 sohc. Anyone got one? Is it the same as anything else? Progete? 323? Plmk asap!

for the same amount you could possibly source a 2.5 v6+tranny from a 93-97 Probe/MX6

How do you figure? Engine, transmission, custom/modified motor mounts, wire harness, ECU + entire custom install? (uhm)

no, alot of MX3 guys do so for an upgrade. About everything is a direct bolt-on. Just do a search on a MX3 forum to see a how-to. My buddy has done in but got the jdm KLZE instead for a few extra ponnies

Are you talking about a swap to the KL or just to use the tranny?

well I was suggesting just to drop it in all together while he is at it. that is if he has the stock 1.8v6 in there

That's not a direct swap in the least bit. That would cost a ton more than just replacing the transmission.

The KL motor is a swap for the 1.8L DOHC MX-3, not the 1.6L SOHC (or 1.6L DOHC). Two complete different motors/setups.

If you were to swap the motor in that car the best bet would be to do a BPT. That would make a lot more sense. Not to mention it's a better motor than a KL anyway.
