Mazda Likes To Screw Us

FYI: All of you complaining about the 'alarm' issue. Anti-theft and theft-deterrent are two different things. The GT has both. Theft-deterrent is the alarm, anti-theft is just an engine disabling feature. Look at your sticker very carefully for the sport - it should only list anti-theft, which has no audible or visual alarm.

You're right, sry for the stir-up. I thought the sticker said Anti Theft Deterrent but it really only said Anti Theft Engine Immobilizer.

So how many of us are there with the Bose/CD changer listed as a standard feature on the Sport MS3? So far I know of 3:
1. Elderlycoffee
2. GDorris (me)
3. SeanMSIII

Any more out there?

I went to another mazda dealer today to look at a black speed 3. too bad it was a sport. Anyhow we told the manager the sticker was wrong and he said "i know" and we're like so shouldnt you take it off and he was like it's a selling point, people want it so i'm leaving it and i'll tell them when they buy it that it was a mistake

What stupid asshole. No wonder dealerships have a bad name. I sure as s*** would not pull something like that.

how does it immobolize the car if the kets are not clsoe to car?

Your car's engine shuts off and will no longer start if someone tries to start your car with a fake key. Your key comes with a little computer chip in it, so it's not the key that you need to start the car, it's actually the chip.

oh my god Mazda really **** up nicely and they will always be like that!! They did to me when i used to have my blue msp , i take it out and 2000k miles later the engine blown , it took 3 months to get it from japan and since then it was to slow!!

Not sure if it's different here in Canada, but I have a "Mazda 3 Sport" (still not clear on what "mazda speed" refers to -- I'm thinking that's the US term for the same vehicle?). Mine is a "GS" (what you're referring to as "sport" I think) -- I decided against the GT because I didn't see a whole lot of difference for the price.

FWIW, my Sport came with a 6-CD-changer... but not the Bose speakers (and it's got 4 instead of the 6 speakers the GT has).

Good luck in your quest to get your money back -- I'd be pissed if I was in your shoes!

Me. Clearly says so on my window sticker. I don't care though. I knew what I was getting prior to purchase. Besides, a stereo isn't all that important to me.

Damn, is there ANY morality left in this country at all? You guys are egging on a 17 year old kid, for 8 pages, telling him to (have his parents) SUE Mazda NA and/or a dealer OVER A TYPO?

TS- If the Bose stereo system was so important, why did it take you TWO MONTHS to do anything about it?... furthermore, if it truely was a real selling point that would have made or broke the purchase, why didn't you notice when you picked up the car, before leaving the lot, that there was no CD changer?

Seriously guys, lawsuit over this one? Grow up. I can't believe that some of you with normally rational minds are thinking like this.

You might mention that your lawyer likes the idea of a class action: all Sport buyers who relied on the sticker and thought they were getting a 6 CD unit. If there's a class action, then they get to replace just about everybody's cd AND pay the attorney's fees of 25%-33% of the total value of the settlement.

See, this is what I absolutely HATE about America. People think they can just sue everybody at the drop of a hat. You're willing to not only waste valuable time and money over a f'ing CD changer, but even a class action?

OP, did you CHECK the car for the CD changer when you picked it up? My sales guy showed me how mine worked. Before buying the car, I knew the differences between Sport and GT. I checked my invloice and sticker line by line so I knew what I was and wasn't paying for. My dealer tried to stick me with the $199 VIN etching fee I told them I didn't want (twice) and I made them re-do EVERY bit of paperwork.

Sorry to rant and rave, but I'm just SO tired of people suing others for stupid crap like this. Take SOME responsibility that you didn't check the car before you handed over the cash. If not, give the car back to the dealer and cancel the purchase. End of story.

(first) glad I'm not the only one who saw the ridiculousness.

I'm Canadian, and I dislike the litigious attitude too, but in this case, I think the guy has every right to be pissed off. I didn't take the "let's sue them" part literally -- but often the threat is enough to light a fire under a company that might be intentionally taking people for a ride (and based on that post about the salesman saying he *knew* the spec sheet was wrong, it's possible that's what's going on).

I do agree we have to take responsibility for checking out the vehicle, but to be honest, I didn't check out the CD player either -- I didn't have any CDs with me and it didn't occur to me that my spec sheet my be lying! If it's there on the sheet, it's only natural that it should be there on the vehicle too -- and if it isn't, then it's up to the company to straighten that out. THEY screwed up here, not the buyer. And he's entitled to the CD-player he thought he was getting. Personally, I can't believe that Mazda is jerking him around like this over a CD player. A few hundred dollars is a drop in the bucket to them, but probably quite a bit more significant to a 17-yr-old!

I will agree with most of what you said in your post, except for the above quoted part. That is where I heavily disagree. Why do you think he is entitled to something that IS NOT standard equipment, IS NOT listed on anything other than the (typo'd) window sticker, and IS NOT installed into any sport model MS3 unless the customer PAYS extra for it (this gets rid of the potential "well it was in the one we test drove" arguement).

This was not an attempt by Mazda or the dealer to screw someone over "by suckering them into a MS3 with a Bose stereo". But now on the other hand, just about every person in this thread thinks that this kid should now basically screw over Mazda because "he can't live without a CD changer", and "Mazda is the one who ****** up". Yeah, they made a typographical error on one piece of paper, big whoop... now why exactly should they hand over a $1500+ stereo system to someone who didn't pay for it?

All I see here is a bunch of kids who are so selfish that they find something to b**** about when their parents buy them a TWENTY TWO THOUSAND dollar car. God knows we can't just listen to that nice motor like I do.
