Mazda Japan - Demio Web pages

What we should be pissed about is the underbody diffuser panels that we don't get here.

There are a couple of nice goodies (Skyactiv & "no shift shock?", more colors, wheel, dash options) they keep to home market. Is it just me or does the Demio look like it is lowered too?

Navigate through the menus shown in the pic below...there is some pretty cool stuff. Shame Mazda US can't show the same enthusiasm.

P.S... I wonder if anyone could import those panels and would they bolt right up to the US version?

I have asked if we can get those legal in B-Spec to clean up the aero of the cars but no luck so far.

So apparently the lack of a center armrest is for the ladies....

"How did the center console tray birth?

As a result of the investigation of the storage space, I had a voice, "because it housed in a handbag and mobile phones wallet, space to be able to put the bag want" and from female guests.
Was reflecting the idea of the feminine, which often have a handbag usually is, is this center console tray."

And I thought it was just another cost saving measure.

wtf mazda bring us these cars and the options that are offered in the mother country.

I think there are several cool designs for the home market that will never see the light of day here (as well as features).

I guess at the end of the day it all comes down to their interpretation (What do Americans like?) of what will sell in the US. As much as I hate to admit it seems like they may be right.

I commute to work everyday on the LIE and have yet to see another Mazda 2. I see Versa's, Fits, Yaris, Prius, Focus and even Sparks so the argument that Americans don't buy small hatchbacks don't seem to hold water based on what I have seen. So WHY no Mazda 2s? I don't think Mazda USA is pushing this car at all. The car I bought was sitting so long untouched on the lot that they had to put a new battery in just for the test drive.

Maybe if they spent some money on advertising, offered a Skyactiv or turbo option (another 15 -20hp would really improve this cars appeal) and other goodies from the home market sales would improve(?) IDK it is a shame really. I really enjoy driving this car. On the plus side I kind of like having one of the very few around here. Unfortunately, I know it does not bode well for this cars future in the US market.

Hmm...I see Mazda 2s constantly in Colorado. I actually never see Versas anymore, so perhaps it comes down to local advertisement and appeal. I think the next-gen 2 will receive more love from Mazda USA and they'll push it more toward people who want subcompacts.

And by constant I mean I see at least 1-2 when I'm out and about every day. I'd rather see our 2s than the fugly Versa Note.

Glad to hear that. I actually test drove the Versa. I was so underwhelmed I just got out of the car and walked away the whole time being chased by the sales guy (wife says I'm rude). I told the guy..no thanks car doesn't interest me at all. Such a plain vanilla BORING car and I test drove the manual.

I guess like you said things are different by region. I am so very surprised how many Versa's I pass everyday. I must see at least 6 or 7 going and coming. I actually see more Versa's than Fits. Almost as many as the crappy Prius. Weird. I originally wanted to get the new Mazda 3 but life intervened and my new budget made that a tough sell to wife. So, I took a hard look at the 2. I liked the Touring but did not want to pay 16k+ for it. I'll spare you the boring details but after the test drive and some haggling I was happy to purchase the car (2013 Touring MT in Black) for 13.9k. I think it was a fair price and much more fun to drive than the Versa.

.

I'm on the road all day, 9-10 hours, and I was going to say just the opposite. I see a few every day, and more each week. I really think the segment is catching on.. Honda and Toyota had a few year jump start on the market, Nissan was closely behind. There's a ton of Fit's out there, but I don't see them very often. The Versa though, I see most frequently, I think due in large part to the aggressive ad campaign the last few years.

Like I said I guess every region is different. No exaggeration it has been over a month now and I have not seen even one on the road out here in Suffolk county.

I was actually behind an M2 yesterday at a light.... thats it.... yes here in suffolk mazda 2's are like unicorns

Lol, Yeappp... I see more Fiat 500's than Mazda 2's which is strange to me. Loll(second)

I've seen a total of like 8 Mazda 2's since I've owned mine and probably the same white one a few times in Atlanta. My job is driving an ambulance and I'm on the road a lot so barely any in GA but tons of versas, minis, Fits, and Fiats!
