Mazda Extended Confidence

Mazda CX-9
I researched alot about the extended warranty and breakdown warranty. Tho the latter offers cheaper and better coverage and is more convenient on filing claims, but it has max 7 years coverage including 3 years factory bumper to bumper. Extended Warranty like MEC has upto 9 years not including 3 years factory bumper to bumper for a total of 12 years coverage. I plan to keep my brand new CX-9 for more than 10 years. 2016 CX-9 has alot new technology in the car so it might be more prone to defects hence the need of extended warranty. I generally don't want get third party extended warranty knowing there's a higher chance of my claim getting denied for BS excuse. However, Mazda has it's own extended warranty, I know Mazda does not administer it, Warrantech Automotive Inc does. I read alot reviews about Warrantech, it doesn't seem reliable. But I thought it is sold by Mazda itself, so the fine print might be different than if you get from Warrantech directly? Mazda made it sound like the MEC is bumper to bumper. Maybe it is? Maybe Mazda made a deal with Warrantech so that it is easier to approve claims? Has anyone successfully had his car repaired by Mazda's MEC?

If I were you I would get some kind of warranty extension. When I purchased my 2007 new mazda did not sell extended warranties. I got a one source 3rd party warranty from the dealer. It was administered by warrantech. I read a lot of stories about them denying claims. I used it only twice, the second time was for the water pump which is over 1500 dollars. That warranty saved me from a big expense. The mazda one goes up to 9 years. I would consider it especially with the transfer case and water pump. I did an estimate for the 2016 water pump on repairpal and it comes up to 1385-1789 for that replacement. So I guess that they are still using an internal water pump design. You really need to think about it and see if you can get an online svce manual for the 2nd gen cx-9. You will know for sure if that water pump is internal or external. Hopefully someone else on the forums can add to this.
