Mazda DOES CARE

Boostisgood this is a great effort on your part. However, I will stand as a synic on this matter. He mentioned nothing of the actual R&D actions being taken nor any actual progress or true acknowledgment of a "problem". This is simply a pacifier that is expected to be posted on a forum. Anyway, your efforts are tremendous and hopefully a resolution will follow but I remain, as always on this matter, a synic.:)

Anyone consider that Mazda paid Callaway to do the tuning on this car? It would be logical to think that Mazda will have Callaway do the re-tuning on the car. And knowing big corps, Mazda will probably lean on them to do it for free.

Here's hoping that it goes back to Callaway and they nail it down this time. And wouldn't it be lovely to get some free horsepower out of this??? :)

boostisgood, So good to read this. I bought my mazdaspeed knowing about the hesitation/stumble and the clunk, but I love the car enough to buy it anyway. This is just what I was waiting for. Will be watching this closely :D

So basically you were just stepped down the chain of command? Also does this verify that all the techs at Mazda NA that have said there was a fix coming are lying? I read it as though our concerns were just swept under the rug. Forwarded to the people who fix things... Does Mazda employ any of them?

I for one am skeptical.

Britt

I, for one, am going to have to agree. While I think it's fantastic that boostisgood (great job, by the way) is taking the lead with this and that Mazda is aware of the issue, all this email really says is "stop sending things to the higher-ups." Basically, this email is telling us to go through the normal chain of command like everyone else. I'm glad the problem has been acknowledged but this correspondence doesn't make me feel as though they're rushing out to fix it.

Here is a frikin post by Brian At Mazdaformance. 30 to 60 days people, 30 to 60 days. All depends on if the emissions is changed or not.

What part of, "A CLOSE FRIEND OF MR. DAVIS,WHO ALSO IS AN OWNER OF A MAZDA DEALERSHIP,SENT HIM OUR PETITION. THAT IS WHY IT IS GETTING THE ATTENETION IT IS, AND WILL BE FIXED.

Sheesh, after this s***, I done. Get all your heads out of your asses, and realize mazda CANNOT afford to have the MSP be fuxored.

I dont care what they say boost, u took this futher than any of us could have dreamed.... everyone complains and complains about all these problems and then for ONCE somebody is stirring the soup up at Mazda and getting responses from high up on the chain, i havent heard of anyone else doing this. I dont recall someone ever recieving emails about the clunk issue and Mazda saying that it would be cleared up. Even tho its been complained about since the MP3 has been out. Only you have taken this to a new level, and im with you 110%

Way to go, Boost! You've taken this a long way - my thanks!

funnylittleman, that Kirk thing moving around is driving me crazy. "Spock - SHUT IT DOWN!"

Get all your heads out of your asses, and realize mazda CANNOT afford to have the MSP be fuxored.

Why do you believe this exactly? I have seen cases where car makers spend millions and millions in R&D to produce a car for two years then drop it and take a huge loss.

Case in point:

1975-1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega - 2.0L twin can 16v. First electronic fuel injection. Chevrolet planned to build 35,000 per year, but after long stalls (cars at port for over a year, sound familiar?) the car was released to a bitter reception. The original quoted and advertised hp had gone from 200 (Cosworth's design) to 110 due to emissions and GM corporate BS. They ended up building only 3508 of these cars, even though they were 15 years ahead of their time. These Cosworths were designed to reintroduce GM into the world of racing with a splash (sound familiar?). You know what happened after that? GM dropped the program, dealerships quit servicing the cars and warranty work could only be done at 8 regional "repair centers". So don't say they can't afford to have this car go tits up. They only made what, 4000?

Second, don't be a dick. You sent an email, and got a response. Good for you. Don't pat yourself quite yet. I can get an email response from a Customer Service rep too. In fact, I can pick up the phone and call one. We have been hearing about "a fix" for several months now. He offered no proof or suggestion that anything was being done. He said your concern "would be addressed".

I for one will be awaiting his reply before I jump up and down and praise your name.

Get over yourself until you have a reason.

Britt

Hold up there slappy...it isn't just a "customer service rep" Do you normally get to talk to the head of customer service of a nationwide company? No...he's (Boost) done some pretty good things, thus far. Now that he's a judge at tuner events he's got more clout, too...if a judge is telling people that Mazda is f'n stuff up they'll listen. Then do you think that people will even want to get regular prot's (while they're left) or the new 3 and everything else?

Mazda does have a lot invested in this program...they want to be known for their hertitage in speed and racing. Sure, history points out cases otherwise, but Chevy was huge and Mazda is not. They REALLY can't afford to f-up ther sales through bad word of mouth, because that's how they get a lot of sales in the first place.

As for Craig getting off his pedestal, whatever...shown me what your done for us lately. Boost is not quite in the class of Newf, Kwik, Spoolin, Perf....yet, but he's no slouch.

Now think about this...Mazda does the fix and does it right. We bump up HP to say 180 at the crank just by making the system leaner. Then say Mazda sends C&D and every other Mag a new MSP with the new ECU and see what they say. That comparison with the MSP, SRT, SVT focus that C&D did may look a whole lot different. And their reader base alone could pull these MSPs off the lots that they're sitting on..unsold because of negative feedback. So in the end Mazda truely makes a profit with the car by just fixing ONE thing. And if nobody made a noise, it could be the end of Mazdaspeed in the US.

Of course...this is all my opinion and is subject to rebuttal. But I think my thoughts are fairly legitimate and straight forward.

I don't suppose you want to tac on the clunk issue while your at it to start getting the Mazda USA atleast to admit its a problem worthy of attention.

Cheers to Boost and Newf for all their hard work !

We here are all grateful....some of us more than others.

How do you get the beer mug thingy to work ???

Someone here said they hoped we could end up with 180 hp. Let's hope it's that and not 160 hp.

First one to get it done, get to a dyno quick.

I would like to think, with boosting to about 10psi, we would be near 180 hp++ (not at the wheels).

Beer thingy? Take your favorite mug or pint glass, and fill it with your favorite brew. Works everytime !

Vega, I absolutly refuse to get into a flame war over this. I have spent MANY hours compiling data, talking to MAGAZINE EDITORS, CSR's AT MAZDA, Emailing just about EVERY Engineer at Mazda, Talking to MAZDASPEED DEALERS across the states, Faxing the petition to them, GETTING RESPONCES FROM THE HEAD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT OUR ISSUES, Talking to Techs at several dealers, ECT ECT. It will be fixed.

Did your eyes not read the thread setup by BRIAN at MAZDAFORMANCE ? He posted, well before I did, that the fix IS coming in 30-60 days. MAZDAFORMANCE IS AT JEFF HAAS MAZDA IN TEXAS. JEFF HAAS IS VERY GOOD FRINDS WITH ROBERT DAVIS. JEFF HAAS, PERSONALLY SENT ROBERT DAVIS THE PETITION. JEFF HASS'S TECHS FOUND OUT FIRST ABOUT THE FIX, AND POSTED IT HERE. Read up everything in a thread, and threads that are pointed out in it, before you go flapping your cock holster, slappy. :D

Have a nice day.
