Mazda CX-5 hood damper strut lifter ?

has anyone tried this ? looks like it's plug and play, no drill or welding required. looks interesting......

Had this on my Maxima. Standard equipment. Just lift the hood and it stays up. Unfortunately after about 10 yrs they don't function properly and will lose the ability to stay up.
The hydraulic fluid probably dries up. Found out the hard way when the hood came down on my head.

Will stick with the current rod, at least it won't fall down.

After 10 years... we'll yeah sure it's wore out they don't last forever...
