So It looks like Mazda finally decided how they want to proceed with the MyMazda App. In most cases with a brand new Mazda car we were getting 2 years free trial and then we would have to pay and at least in Canada they were ready to charge some ridiculous fees (like something between $15 to $20 - depends on 2-4 years subscription) This is the link to the new plans:

I am assuming it's going to be something similar in USA. The big difference is 10 years complimentary (free) plan that excludes all the practical features (like starting the engine or opening/closing the doors) but leaves all the safety notifications and alerts as well as the option to find your car (quite useful actually). Convenience plan costs $9.95 now and includes everything what is available for particular model. Well for me it is still too expensive - I would maybe consider to pay like max $5 per month - but at least now they give you an option to keep it for free with some limited features.

is the remote engine start available without the Mazda connected service? ( ex: from the keyfob). I don’t care a whole lot about using my phone to remote start the car, but if I bought a car with remote start only to realize it was only free for two years I would be quite disappointed.

It is nice to see most of the other mazda connect features will remain complementary.

Mazda only offers remote start through the app. I think, there are available some after market solutions at least for older models. I am not sure about the newest infotainment compatibility.

Well now instead of phone apparently you can use your smart watch 😁too (but only Apple watch:unsure:). It feels like Mazda is trying but can't really figure it out what exactly to aim for - like marketing department provides some ideas but then engineers start implementing them without realizing what's going to be practical for average person.

Does anyone know if this was also the standard for new cars in the US? And across all models (i.e., did the CX-5 have the same "free" trial period as the CX-9)?

$10 for just remote engine and door locking feature is too much. At the very least features like heat settings mode & seat heat settings should have been included.
After-market remote start seems much better options as of now vs $120/ year
