and it's filed non-published, so you can't look it up. But with ours, and a lot of other technologies it costs thousands and thousands to do it, and it takes years... so in motorsports it is very difficult to do that, and the benefit is very minimal because the court cases are so expensive...

I agree with you 100%, I kept mine non-published as well, not that it will matter in a few months (the privacy thing runs out in Feb.) so I could sell it to someone to "shelf" it. Quick bucks are the american dream!!! I can't relate to the time and costs, but I can imagine the frustration. Hopefully you can sell yours without having to develop it, the same as I'd like to do.

We have a very personal atmosphere on this forum, which causes us to question vendors. On top of that, there is a lot of knowledge on this forum... the types of people that question everything when it comes to cars. People say the things they say not to bash the vendor (in most cases) but to protect the community and save people money. If I found out that a 626 mani gave performance gains on the car, I would let everyone know. On the same note if I bought a part, brought it home, and it looked just like something else.... I would also let people know. Not to bash the vendor but to help friends.

And that's fine, but I'm just asking them not to take small jabs at each other like they have (if you closely read some of their posts).

No I totally agree, I was replying to a few posts back w/o quote... so it looked like I was responding to you. My bad. What I was talking about is different than what they are doing.... they are just going back and forth causing unwanted tension and stress... lol.

we have one big ass company who has been evaluating ours... they like it but things are stalled right now.. when we get the patent we'll get a new working proto done and then re-pitch it and I think we'll be golden then.. big thing is making it manufacturable and cheap.. which they don't want to spend time doing!

Good luck on yours too! When it is public forward the patent number as I'd get a kick out of seeing what you did.

from what ive been reading, the EGR opens and intoduces innate gasses(c02)
to actually cool the chamber at certain times. It also said that not having EGR SOMETIMES caused pinging due to higher temps.

ah, here:

You're dead on. It basically displaces some charge and drops the cylinder temps. It's best to keep it for safety AND to save the trees/dolphins/bunny rabbits...

It's "supposed" to help cool the combustion by improving the burn itself somewhat... but yeah it is in theory good... but I run without, and a lot of people do... either way you'll get a CEL and you are screwed for emissions.... if you have an MSP I would try to keep it as the last thing you want to do is further screw up that ECU.

Cullen: next time you do something custom, don't do it for mazda. Or, if you really, really have to, patent that b**** and sue every mutha f#$@#%^ last one of them for infrigement. PM me for details, I've worked with a Patent Attorney down here before.

un-subbing
Nice... Copy the 626's manifold and patent it(deadhorse

no egr cel folks.... i still have it plugged in to the solenoid just plugged that is all.

what about with the microtech?

We haven't done the work for eliminating CEL and so forth... but will work on it this winter... as it stands right now you won't do too well for emissions... but it is a work in progress and I know what needs to be done to get there.

I'm surprised.. you should get an 'insufficient flow' CEL. The EGR boost solenoid and I believe there is an EGR related MAP sensor that should get freaked out.

I will but I dont even know what EGR is?

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation. It's recirculates some exhaust back into the intake which helps get rid of more unburned hydrocarbons before shooing it out the tailpipe. It also evens out the cylinder temps by helping the intake mixture heat up, but keeps the peak temps down. It's good for fuel economy, emissions, and deters detonation.

Amen Brutha! :)

Hey, Steve; If you can actually set up the Microtech so it doesn't set off any CEL's, as far as the stock ECU, I'll buy one from you right then, somehow. =)

Passing emissions testing ECU-wise without having to swap or change anything out would put this option far ahead of the pack.
