Mazda 6 Hatchback

I was at the LA autoshow this weekend and saw one of the new 6 5 doors. It looks much, much better than the sedan. I like the sedan but this has a much sportier look due to the deletion of the trunk lid. My only concern would be that the hatch will rattle eventually, and I hate that. Has anyone else seen it? What do you think?

I saw a white one at the Toronto Auto Show last March.
I was very impressed, it looked really slick.

Hatch's and wagons have one less cross-member than sedans. As such, body torsional rigidity is reduced. However, some of this will be made back up through other reinforcements around the hatch opening (or side panels).

But don't worry about it. Out on the road, the difference is negligable. And of course, there are many advantages of a hatch or wagon bodystyle as compared to a sedan (so you lose some and you win some).

Haven't seen one in person, but from pics it looks awesome. I think it looks more upscale and sporty than the sedan.

The hatch adds a lil trunk space, too.

Only problem I had was the fact that it was harder to see around the C-pillar in the hatch than the sedan. So merging on the highway would take a little more time...

If I were to choose, I'd pick up the wagon. More practical and I can see more by the C-pillar area :)

I have one of these today while my car is in getting a seat fixed. Damn silver insert in the seat tore.

Anyways. Very nice car. And the hatch is something I wish more cars had. This car does not look like the typical hatch at all and that makes it even more attractive. Put the back seats down and you have lots of space to work with. Car still handles very well, almost seems like a smaller car in how it handles.

I just wish this car came with a better stereo, and I wish the Mazdaspeed 6 came in this hatch version. Which is ironic, because if the mazdaspeed 3 comes out in hatch, I dont' have interest in buying that as it still looks like a "wagon" to me. But the Mazdaspeed 6 in a hatchback would interest me quite a bit.

yep. I have yet to see a manufacturer grow a brain and put their high-tuned performance model as a wagon. I think it's hilarious. Getting owned by a STOCK wagon...

I'm talking about a true wagon, not some stupid "it's a hatchback" thing hehe. And also talking not in super happy high price ranges either. Audi Avant is sweet... but damn!

PS anyone see the new Audi A3? Looks familiar to any particular Mazda perchance?

I like the 6 five door and the 3 five door. Both cars are unique enough to draw my attention. Also the value for what you get is there too.
