Mazda 3 Maintence Cost

Hi,

Just like to know how high is the cost of maintence is compared to other sedans in the same category (eg - Corolla, Civic, etc.). I heard from other people Mazda vehicles generally have much higher maintence cost. Did Mazda reduced the cost of maintence for their vehicles or for some of their vehicles?

oil changes seem relatively cheap ($20 or so?) but it uses a cartridge filter so you're going to the dealer unless you get an adaptor.

there is a non-serviceable timing chain so no 60-100K $1000 job to replace the thing...

easy-to-access serpentine belt with water pump on the belt...

I'd imagine it's not too high... but really, I don't think anyone has driven one enough to incur major maintenance on it.

My dealer a couple of weeks ago charged me $18.95 for an oil and cartridge filter change. It was normally $21.95

where are you located? my dealer says 35$ for an oil/filter change and with a cupon, its 25$. ive checked other area dealers and its the same for everyone.

My dealer is in St.Petersburg, Florida

He did give me a good price because he said he wanted me back. I told him I didn't have much choice since he was the only one with the filter. The filter kit alone was almost $13.00, so they didn't make much money on me. I'll be getting it done there as long as I get the same deal.

damn. the filter is here is 9$ + 6$ large O-ring + 1$ Small O-ring = 16$ just for a filter kit! mabye thats why its more expensive for an oil change.
