Mazda 2 Fuel economy

"Anything much above 72 (approx 3,000 RPM) sustained drives the mileage in the dumpster." Interesting observation . I can drive my 3.5L Intrigue around town at between 1100 and 2000 rpm and get 23 mpg in serene comfort and uncanny quietness. The 2 seems to be more like Miata, eager to go and use the revs so to suck back the fuel at higher revs and cruising at the speed limit seems odd. The miata returns over 40 mpg at the speed limits, no cruise and a steady foot. MPG figures with the once Cdn gallon

I have managed between 30-31 mpg around town for my first three tanks. I havent been above 3500rpm yet though!!

30+ mpg is cool with me though. Though the speed 6 gets great gas mileage for as fast as it is. low average 21mpg, high average 24mpg. Getting over 30mpg's would put some money back in your wallet.

I was expecting the 2 to average better though.
