Max drop with a +42 offset

Well, I'm one of those who chose to take the hard route and put 42mm offset on my MP5..not necessarily meaning hard, but limiting my performance spring selection. So, I know others has put Eibach's (1.4 F/1.2R)on safely, but my questions is, has anyone entertained something like 1.5F/1.5 R successfully. I've searched and since this offset is not a favorite choice, the info is limited. I will go Eibach, as I have no problem, just thought I'd see your responses first..Peace!:)

i wish someone would respond to this thread, i have the eibach springs and i just ordered some 18X7.5 wheels with +42mm offset. i just want to be sure they wont rub

i have 18x7.5s with a 42 offset on my msp running on stock suspension and they only rub on hard corners or over big dips on the driver's side rear and if you look at the black mark on the fender its like 1-2MM of rub, over like a 6 inch span

very minimal and im sure sanding the fender down or rolling it would remedy this

hey KY, you'll rub for sure. especially if you have anyone in the back seat. the p5 needs an extra +2-3mm offset than the sedans. it's my understanding that the overall size of the wheels don't matter, i.e., it doesn't matter if you're running 17 or 18". what matters is width of rim. with a 7.5" rim, you're gonna need a +48 offset if you want to run with 215 tires. and with 205's, a +48 is also recommended IIRC.

i had mille miglias that were sold from tire rack as fitting a stock pro, which it did... but once lowered on eibachs with a friend in the back, it rubbed like no other. it was also a +42 offset... and it was only 7" wide on 205 tires.

oh yeah, it also depends on the rims. some makes have more clearance given the same spec'd offset. it's weird... but i guess it's like how a medium at banana republic is a large at american eagle. who knows. hope this helps.

thanks for the info.... as soon as i get the wheels im sending them to be powdercoated. is it possible to machine the inside of the wheel for more offset?
