Massive/Violent Hesitation

Check your coil packs? If you're boosting the slightest bit and lose a coil, the misfire is gonna hit you in the gut like if you hit fuel-cut.

i've experienced this... and sure enough coil packs were the problem

I've got a 2004 3 with a similar problem, I even got the lean condition code. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed is as a bad intake manifold.

The "flaps" you're talking about open at a certain rmp and can stick causing acceleration / hesitaion issues. Offically mine has been diagnosed as Intake manifold making noise due to internal baffle fault.

Does your car make a ticking noise like out of adjustment valves at idle speed? If so this might be your problem as well.

I was driving home last night and had this happen to me, scary as hell when it happened! Does it with light acceleration. I can't imagine it is bad fuel for how it just hits a brick wall... So best bet is to check the voltage / ohms on the coil packs?

My car has been doing this since day one and has recently been throwing a P0171 code. New WGA, vac block and lines (no leaks), cleaned MAF, all charge pipes tight, new coils, wires and plugs all the right parts have been replaced and it still has AWFUL hesitation around 3-3500 rpm.

if your running the stock intercooler piping sometimes they get heat soaked and choke the turbo, could be that or something as simple as a loose belt or something

I have this same issue. I myself don't have a reflash ecu or the joeP fpr. I plan on buying the joeP fpr and see if that helps.

ive had all these same problems different situations and out comes tho.. when i hit fuel cut it was basicly it was usualy around 8psi started after i upped the boost i was told the factory setup doesnt like more boost and will dump fuel to comp. but then to much fuel and it hit the cut. this doesnt sound like its the case for us guys tho. and with coils about a month ago I had the missfire problem real bad to the point i couldnt even start my car with it not missfiring. but before that it would randomly start missfiring at any time. mine never felt as hard as fuel cut even at hard sccel. but every car is different. hey if anyone has any info on lsds breaking check out the broken lsd? thread i think mine went tonight
