too many to list, but 2002 MP5 for the forum
sooo, i have read and searched the forum and i can't honestly determine whether my MAP sensor needs replacing (almost 150$!!!) or if my olde egr has given out (again).

Is there a thread (i cant find one) that goes thru the different troubleshooting steps to determine where the problem is from a P0106 code???
-i just swapped the old and cracked intake tube for a new one about 350 miles ago.
-replaced the plugs and wires about 1k ago
-first cel in a loooong time and i am due for the inspection this month!!! hehehe

oddly enough i cant say i ever threw a code when the EGR needed work last time, but i cant recall either.

hmmm I know on a 2000 Protege 1.6 this is often caused by a carbon buildup near the EGR where the hose connects to the intake mani. You clean it out with a drill bit. Hadn't heard of it or had to mess with mine on the P5 tho.

well if the p5 has the same parts i should check it.... where is the tube and are there any pics/ threads on clearing it out like u suggest?

We have a map sensor?

I thought we had an MAF sensor because I have one between my air cleaner and throttle body.

i wanna say the MAP sensor (mani absolute pressure) is like on the cruise bracket - but that might just be the 2000 Protege. Mass Airflow Sensor they both have, but not involved here.

The place I cleaned was just the metal tube where the hose fit into the manifold. Again, I've never messed with this on a P5.

well according to alldata cel is caused by egr. have you taken it off and cleaned it?

gonna replace w/ another since it was a lifetime warranted part!

okay i've cleaned the hole going into the intake from the egr, replaced the egr itself, reset the computer, and run a good deal of cleaner thru the system and i threw the code again..... on the p5 the hose coming from my map sensor goes into the intake where? is it accessed better from the passenger side or drivers??? any info is appreciated.

Did you ever resolve the MAP sensor issue? I too have searched the forum and not found clear answers.
I cannot find where on the intake to put this vacuum hose. I cannot even remember seeing it when I tore down to change timing belt.
Car runs great; but, cannot pass emission here in AZ.
