Been trying to contact him, NO LUCK!
Contact Beau? When I talk to him again I will let him know that you are looking for the clutch only. Otherwise, I am sure that Pat or Ryan will remember...

thanks, lets see...

I already e-mailed Beau about this, he said hes going to check but, no word 2 weeks later.

That 6 puck sprung clutch looks awsome... I didn't see what hp levels it could hold. Or the price..

Thanks. I didn't see that number on Beau's site so I didn't know. Does it lighten the clutch up enough to even be worth the extra 80?

I spoke to Beau yesterday and he told me that the only SZ943 he sells [on the site] is the hybrid. So, if you order the SZ943 off the site, you'll still get the SZ943H.

BTW, does $300 sound reasonable to have a shop install it?

$150-$200 and MAX $300 is what shops charges for a clutch.

If its going to be $300.00, better be done same day because thats quite expensive.

Yeah, you should see the shape Beau's phone is in, let alone his phone bill. Mazda (mostly pdhaudio (lol)) and Ford peeps call him non-stop. I'll let him know for ya...

Thanks for the info, and honestly that sounds a bit high just for the clutch alone. I think my friend had his clutch and flywheel done for that much. I don't know first hand though. Sounds decent, but if I were you I would look around. Sometimes you do get what you pay for though.

What HP numbers will our tranny handle? I want to get a high HP clutch (don't care about harsh engagement), but not if the tranny is going to go before the clutch. Anyone had their tranny cryoed or have an aftermarket one?

Harsher engagement clutches will be more likely to damage an unprepared transmission. That's about all I have to say about that. These trannys have seen up above 300hp, with little to no modifications, but I wouldn't bank on it, for sure.

About the price, $300 is good, actually. It usually ranges from there to 450, from my experience for a clutch install. A flywheel isn't going to cost ANY more to install at the same time, since they have to remove, surface, and reinstall the stock flywheel anyway, so if you forgo that option, it may cost you less, sans the price of the flywheel itself, of course.

Our trans starts to blow after 400whp aprox. A change of gears and it will be good for a bit more.

But it will also depend on how your treat it, you can break it at any hp.

So, I don't really plan on going boost; should I still go with the Stage III? I might, but the odds aren't all there for it to happen.

right, flywheel will be the same cost as installing a clutch, perhaps $20 cheaper too, because if you DONT replace the flywheel, it must be resurfaced/machined, and that costs a few bucks.

the HYRBID stage 3 part number is actually
SZ943KH

beau needs free sprint to sprint :D thats what i have ;)

nothing written, just seeing the boosted proteges here pushing that much power. Stock tranny blowing @ around that much power ( 400whp). Remember there are a couple here on the 480+++whp. They changed 3rd and 4th gear ratios with a combination of AWD gears found on the JDMs AWD323 transmision. They needed it because those gears where breaking and also needed a lower ratio because they where finishing the 1/4 mile in 5th gear. Now with the new ratio, they end in 4th gear(.81 ratio).

Oh that by the way, they did a new record(the FSDE 323): 9.7 @ 145MPH. And the car has everything, except for the passengers seats.
The protege5 did 11.4 @ ???
And I....well, one of my tires blew before arriving the racetrack, so...I wasnt able to race. Im sure I was going to hi around 14.3 @ 10.5psi.

So should I just go with a Stage I or II? Man, I gotta talk to Beau.....and if I went boost, it'd be mild (6-8 PSI).

i would just keep your stock clutch until/if you boost, unless there is something wrong with it now ?

otherwise, stage 2

Yah, I'm turning into a cold clutch chatter victim; I plan to fight a bit for it (via Mazda N/A), but I really don't want an OEM clutch as there's no guarantee that I won't have the issue again.

I'm tempted to go with a Fidanza or Unorthodox flywheel too, but feel my money would be spent better elsewhere.

yep. thats what i thought... for what i read, a flywheel certainly wasnt worth the multiple hundreds.
