SCCA Street Touring Rules Section 14.6.D

Original equipment ABS braking systems may be electrically disabled, but may not be removed or altered in any other way.

Also says the same thing in Street Prepared section 15.6.A

You are looking at the rules from the standpoint of having a ABS car. If you do an option package conversion then it is like your car never came with ABS to begin with.

This would not work for the MSP since you could not get it without ABS but you could do it for the P5.

Both those rules are for cars with ABS. If you do an option package conversion (allowed in stock rules that both classes follow) then your car would be a Non-ABS car and you would not be bothering with those rules.

You would have to replace anything that was different between the two (Master cylinder?/lines?/computer?/wheel sensors?) if anything was different. also if they had different trim panels for the non side airbag cars you would have to add those to remove the side airbags.

I disabled mine, because I kept lifting the inside rear wheel and it was causing the ABS to freak out. I don't really miss it. I kind of wish I had a non-ABS Protege to start with now. SInce I'm sure there are quite a few pounds added to the ABS versions and per the rules I can disable ABS but I can't remove it.

HOw did you disabled it? Is there a fuse for it?

There should be a fuse for it in the fuse box under the hood near the left strut tower. Pulling the fuse out will disable the ABS, but it will also cause the ABS and Emergency Brake idiot lights to stay on. Just remove those too.

I was going to let you get different options but since you asked I will join in.

Joined in hope you like reading long posts filled with rules quoting :)

Brought back from the dead!

Mostly because i'm setting up my my mazda for STX i'm chasing down a red M3 in my region. and doing a piss poor job of it. :D

you sure it's an M3? I thought those were STU. Most BMWs in STX are E36 328is.
