Making sure nothing's wrong...

Gah.

I tried to install it today and I found out that my intake piping is actually bigger than 2.75"... so the High-Temp reducer didn't fit, and I would also need another reducer for my cone filter. Also ended up trying just the cone filter on the MAF, but that just made my car buck like crazy after releasing the throttle after flooring it.

So I think I'm just going to go back to the stock airbox (and maybe cut it open or something) because I don't want to shell out $40 for another 2 reducers - and I don't even know if the piping will fit down there anyways. Or maybe I'll ask for a brand name intake for Christmas or something.

(bang)

Edit: Oh yeah, I was also thinking of maybe putting the stock box back on and then using the Ebay piping to route the air like a CAI... Does anyone recall the size of the opening of the air box (I don't have the Callaway elbow, btw)? Don't feel like going out to the car in the dark right now.

Hm... Is there any way of extending the MAF (so that I can put it right next to the turbo)?

If you look at the piping up close it looks like 2.75, or at least it does to me.....sorry if I mislead you. I gave you the link to what I got thinking you needed to know the length of the coupling I used and the OD of the turbo inlet to transition too . I didn't think you would buy it without double checking your own piping.
Unless you want to say **** it, I would try to send the coupler back for exchange or save up another 25$ to make it work. Did you try to see if the piping would fit while you had things taken apart? If your piping is 3" it might not fit or it will be a b**** to squeeze it in there.

I definatly wouldn't put the maf near the turbo inlet. your exhaust manifold and radiator are going to batter it with heat.

It's definitely bigger, and even if I exchange it I will still have to get yet another coupler because the stupid cone filter has an even bigger hole. My fault for not checking, but it was also based on the fact that I totally recalled it to being just a regular coupler myself, too.

Or maybe I could use the stock airbox instead of the filter, so I don't have to buy another reducer, lol. I emailed the guy to see what his return/exchange policy was, so I'll see after he replies.

Why Not Get A Ruler... I can't measure it from New Brunswick :)
?? I already measured it to being like 3"... It's just that I didn't do it BEFORE I ordered the coupler. (poke)

the guy who owns HTS is pretty descent so hopefully he will work with you. I talked to him after an order one day for a while and he didn't seem like a jerk trying to make a buck.

Alright, if he says yes to a return or exchange, I'll check the fitment of the pipes with the stock air box - No go if I have to buy another reducer for the cone filter.

Heh, can't really expect a DIY not to be complicated, though.

Vibrant Performnce has couplers rather cheap...
