main gripe you MS6 owners have?

I just got mine a week ago, on the 28th of April..... I gotta say I love it.....my gripes would be the ugly wheels (i like the 5 split spoke design better) and probably the fact that i can't get the "rated" 19 mpg in the city.... lol even if I shift all the way up to 6th gear, and cruising at the 35 mph limit. *shrugs* Aside from that I pretty much love the car.

At 35mph, you'll get better mileage in 4th. I'm not comfortable in 5th until at least 40mph. The key is to just shift before it goes into boost and use as little throttle as possible. I get about 22 mixed but mostly suburbs (35-40mph constant).

do you live in a heavily congested area? I do..... I get great mileage once I hit the freeway (which isn't congested) because I drive to my girlfriend's house about 40 miles away..... and to be honest I can't really feel when the "boost" kicks in, unless you're talking about that surge around 3,200 RPM where I start to feel the car pull me forward, I just usually shift before 3000 RPM. I'd like to but a gauge in that shows me boost, but afraid that would void warranty.....

another gripe is that the car isn't a GT so I have the cloth manual seats (don't get me wrong I wanted the cloth and not leather but I wanted to the automatic seats) Would I be able to get an auto seat installed? for some reason I feel like my manual seat slowly drops down after long drives cause I feel myself hiking it up.

You guys are funny about brake dust... its not bad at all... Try an Evo ... youll want to kill yourself because youll be cleaning the wheels every 3 days

Or try a Dodge Charger SRT8. It has the Brembo's like the EVO, but it is a much heavier vehicle and the rotors are a lot bigger. I would get my car washed and the next day they would be dirty. It was very frustrating.

Yah I must imagine. Its heavier and also automatic (no downshifting for braking, just brakes).

But if you think thats worse, try a Lightning, its horrible!!! I would wash it and in 5 minutes, the rims would be covered in brake dust all over them...WHILE IT WAS PARKED!!

sorry...im a one-upper. ...i also dont have a lightning. :(

My friend has a lightning, and some 19 inch wheels......and hates the dust.......so now he uses EBC Greenstuff ;) or whatever it's called.

ya being in sixth gear at 35mph wont give you the greatest gas mileage, for 35mph i prefer fourth sometimes third(i feel safer having a little rpm, it would allow me to maneuver the car a lot faster in an emergency is all..i live in utah lol i'm a very defensive driver)

i pretty much race my car around all day, maybe not rallying it but 6k on the tach isn't uncommon, and i still manage about 22-23mpg in town. and I drove down to st. george from SLC and got 27mpg...i was satisfied lol (yippy)

but as far as trying to get the best mileage goes..check the owners manual. they have recommended shift points(in mph, not rpm's) for "accelerating" and seperate shift points for "economy" driving. so check it out if your really getting that bad of mileage...19 (boom04) thats terrible!

I just got 23.8 mpg on my last fill-up. 363.6 miles on one tank. However, I also just put aftermarket wheels on with 225/40R18 tires, so acounting for a 5-7% descrepency in tire diameter I actually got 22.1 mpg. That was with about 2/3 highway 1/3 back roads.

That's because where I live is a lot of stop and go traffic...... you'll stop at one light.....drive 1/16th a mile and stop at another light.... so it's a lot of 1st to 2nd to 1st shifting around my neighborhood until I can get to the highway.....

around my GF's neighborhood in miami I get better mileage...... it's odd.

oh and I shift before 3k rpm.... so if i'm in first 3k shift to 2nd....3k 3rd. etc that way i'm shifting before i get into boost

I'll check the manual what it says about ecomony driving......thanks for that.

Well you are getting 0mpg when you sit at a traffic light. If you spend alot of time at traffic lights consider a hybrid, not a performance sports car...or stop whining about mileage :) You could be driving an RX-8 which has less power and gets worse gas mileage (the cost of having a 9K RPM redline).

I wasn't whining, I stated in one post it's hard to get the 19 mpg city rating (i have no problem getting 27/28 on the highway) and the other guy said it was weird......so I explained to him why it seemed "weird"

I don't want a POS hybrid, from what I'm aware they're actually NOT that helpful towards the environment...... I like my car and wouldn't trade it for the world

and the RX-8s are too small for me to drive..... tested one, was uncomfortable after 15 minutes....... I'm about 6'1 and 230 btw (eek2) (so the seats can't grab my shoulders and i feel weird)

I like my car, I can afford the gas, I'm fine with the mileage......just can't get the 19mpg in the city......hence me driving around in 5th or 6th at 40 mph.....hahah

I know, it was just a general statement...if it is a gripe about the car...people should stop and remember what they are driving and that performance doesn't come cheap.

My cousin-in-law works at a BMW dealership. He has to explain to women all day that if they can't afford the $2000 brake job on the Bimmer they shouldn't have bought it in the first place. The sticker price is only the tip of the iceburg. (before there are flames...I don't remember the actual cost of the brake job but it was more than I would want to pay)

lol, yeah......my only "gripe" would be the clutch........which i'll hopefully be getting done soon.......

other than the mpg and the manual seat......those are more preferences.... I'm pretty sure I can get an automatic seat installed (bang)

my seat is electric (breakn), and guess what!!! i had my car in the dealership cuz i cracked my rear diffs front case..(ya i know lol)...and my clutch is fixed!!!
either they adjusted it properly for me, or they finally have started the clutch recall that i heard about around a month ago.

but bottom line is..CLUTCH IS BOMB NOW..wooooooo! 1st to 2nd is seemless shifting now. i could eat subaru's all day long now (guitar)

Sounds nice, seems like you got a good dealer.....who knows, but hey if your clutch is good that's all that matters....

I can shift seemlessly from 1st to 2nd, but that's while grandpa driving.... if I drive spiritd I can definitely feel it, and the thump from the crappy motor mount....that's my first mod just trying to decide what stiffness in durometer to get..... cause i dont want too much harsh vibration.

c'est la vie mike......... take it in under warranty and tell them you hit a rabbit on the turn pike (lol)
