Magnetic Drain Plugs For Transmission

:
Mazdaspeed Protege
I just bought a greddy magnetic oil drain plug for my msp and was wondering if there's a transmission drain plug that is magnetic i would see plenty benefits from one

step one: buy a drain plug, buy a magnet.
step two: epoxy
step three:???
step four: profit

Check autozone to see if they have one thats the right size. I bought my oil drain plug from them.

I haven't cracked open this trans before... but on two other mazda MTXs I have opened up, there has been a good size magnet permanently mounted in the case. Wouldn't surprise me if ours was the same way.

Yes, there is a large magnet not far from the drain.

It would be nice to remover some dirt Every time I change the oil on trans since the one inside can't be cleaned unless the u can the trans apart

That's one fancy drain plug... My mishimoto has a magnetic plug, never seen that before on a radiator but it does work. And as mentioned the trans already has a large magnet, you can feel it when you remove the drain plug, so really no point in a magnetic plug.

wouldnt hurt, but not sure it would really do much. From the breakdown i saw, the tranny magnetic bolt is surrounding the drain plug, its really in the same location/ probably wouldnt help too much. Youd be able to clean it, but how much metal do you expect your tranny to be giving you anyways? there shouldnt be enough in there for you to need to ability to clean it.

Depending on how often the trans is maintained being a a lot people grind gear I think it would be worth it
