Anyone use this?

I'm not a bra/mask fan, but I made the stupid mistake of buying the car in the dead middle of winter, and now the flying sand/salt/s*** starting to hit the front of the car.

Does it do you any good?

Any problems with it?

I did the same thing and got a magnetic bra for it. I wish I would have gotten it sooner and saved my front hood more but oh well. It's not too bad, and it doesn't look half bad either. If I can get a picture of it I will. Have to borrow a digicam. But it sucks installing it in the winter. Unless you have a heated garage where your hood will be above 75 degrees. I put it on one night, (actually wasn't too hard, just takes some patience), and rode off with it. Then we hit temps of like 0 and it started to shrink the bra and its not tight against my hood where the creases are, know what I mean. If I could have installed it in the summer and stretched it more it would have been better. But I would say it's worth it. I bought it off ebay for like $24 or something like that. I'll try to get ya some pics. Later.

I dont get it

Are you saying it needs to be warm when you install

or

You have to park the car in heated garage nightly?

it has to be warm when you install it. mine also shrank a little when i went to the grand canyon in november. it's not snug around the creases of the hood anymore, but still protected the hood. the key is getting the bra warm enough so it stretches and follows the creases in the hood.

Yeah what he said. YOur car and your bra need to be really warm when you install it. And it would help if you could leave it in a warm place the first night or so to get the bra stretched out. I installed it in about a 50 degree garage. I had to you a halogen light to warm up the bra so I could get the bubbles and wrinkles out of it and stretch it into the creases. And the next morning I went down to go to work and it had already shrunk from how cold my garage was. So it's best if you can do it in a warm place and leave in there over night so it has time to stretch out. But it still does it's job.

good deal,

i'll put my order out asap, and at least wait for all the snow to clear before I put it on

Although, I do keep reptiles, and have many interesting heat lights that might work too

Think its worth waiting?

no, i wish I would have put it on sooner to save a lot of nics and chip on the front of my hood. You're supposed to clean and wax the hood before you put it on. But it's up to you. I'd put it on as soon as possible to save those chips from happening.

Anyone had any trouble with it getting wet?

How do you go about getting it off? Or is this a "one time bra"?

No it sticks to your hood but not like you're thinking. There a piece of trim that you have to put on the front of you hood to make sure it stays on there. Just pull the trim off and you can take the bra off and reuse it as many times as you want. You're supposed to wash under it like 1 a month. But haven't had mine for a month yet so I haven't even washed it yet. But it's fine wet. It's more of a rubber feeling bra than like a normal leather bra. I think it's definately more sturdy than other ones.

i used mine everyday, living in Hawaii doesn't really matter, rain or shine. check it out..it's true that it needs to be cleaned and dried once in a while.

It's fine to get wet. I even wax it to make it shine like the rest of the car, but do make sure you wash and wax the area very well before you put it on. You don't want it grinding a piece of dirt into the paint job over time. That could be bad.

kauaiboy,

is that a magnetic bra? I havent seen one that is a full frontal cover, like the ones on magnetbra.com

if yes, where did you get it from?

Ok here's the pics I took last night of my bra. They aren't great pics cause it was kinda dark in my garage, But you get the idea.

This show's you what I mean when it shrunk and doesn't seal on the creases

This is just from the front. Sorry about the darkness.

ok that's it i guess

PA_MP3_Man, thanks for the pics, looks good on your car
You say if you would've installed it while it was warm, it wouldnt loosen like that?

Shumax, obviously not a top of the line product, doesn't look the greatest on a new yellow car, but it'll get me through this horrible winter much better off than I would be without it. And for $40 I can afford to ditch it if needed.
P.S I like the polished alloys on white Pr5. Haven't seen that yet, looks good

Thanks again

no, it's not a magnetic bra, it's vinyl and i bought it at the Mazda dealership about $90 bucks. it's worth it..before i put it on, i always make sure to clean and wax the hood and bumper and make sure that there's no dirt or little pieces of rocks stuck inside.

Thanks. It's just for winter though, just like you said. But yeah, the directions say to put it on in like 70 degree weather and in direct sunlight so that it heats up the bra and stretches it out. Oh well. As long as it's keepin the rocks off the hood.

Hopefully it doesn't fall apart in 6 months. I'm only leavin it on for like 1 more month so it shouldn't get bad in storage. Oh well. If it does it's only $40 down the drain. Good luck with it.

Yeah kauaiboy,
I really like the look of the full mask better, but it rains and snows intermittently here, plus I wash it alot, so the idea of taking it off when there's moisture isn't even possible with me. I was worried about the rocks hitting the lip, but this'll be alot better than nothing
