Magnaflow Exhaust Experience

So I installed the Magnaflow Catback on my car today and it sounds really good and is a good quality exhaust but I cant get it to fit right. Either the left side looks good and the right bad or the right good and left bad. Anyone have any feedback on how there install went?

I will be putting the car on a lift tomorrow and messing with it. My neck is killing me from laying on the ground today.

I bent the rods that go through the rubber bushings. May work for you. I had to get in there with a hammer too because my it was rubbing pretty bad. Looks and sounds like a beast now!

i did mine today. i love the sound but the passenger side is hitting the topside of the plastic. what to do what to dooooo

Put mine on a few days ago, had similar problems to everyone (my left side was good, right not so good). I was back under there this morning to install urethane hangers, those didn't want to work so I went back to the stock rubber ones. Now neither side is where it should be. I banged on the hanger mounts some, I think the key is to manipulate the Y section until things are where you want them. I have to wait for a day when I can have the car to myself to play around with it.

I have SLS TP w/ Magnaflow CBE too. It sounds great. A little freaking vibration won't go away, but I can live with it. Imperfection, that's the price we pay on aftermarket parts, but it's a beauty and performance for some of us.

Vibration of what??? If its the exhaust(muffler) get under there and drop the muffler and beat on the structure there. I just beat the little flange down and it doesnt vibrate any more.

Oh and no i dont have any melting. I left the crome pieces in my bumper....

I had mine put on at an exhaust shop earlier this week, just becaues I didn't want to deal with the adjustment, and they spent quite a while to fit them in the bumper. Seems like when the exhaust gets hot, it rubs just a little bit, but no melting here. I'm running a SU TP also

How much did it run you to have them install it for you?

i adjusted mine with some moving around and believe the fix for me got some heavy duty tie raps and it did the job only on the right side had the issues . what you do on the right side rear rubber mount and tie to the hanger and tie till you see were you wana be .
just get the tie rap from the rubber mount and the hook on the frame and tie up if you get down there you will get my drift of what am talking about .

If you need to lift one side up a bit, you can just wedge something under the metal hanger where it's inside the rubber mount. Fold up a piece of cardboard or something and wedge it in ... might just give you the little bit of lift you need.

The Magnaflow only comes in 2.5". Stock is around 2.25" IIRC. Most of the other dual exhausts are full 3" systems (ETS is odd man out, 3" back to Y-split where it necks down to 2.5"). Problem with the 3" systems (based on all I have read) is they drone.

If your question is serious, it's an annoying noise that occurs at certain engine speeds (depends upon the cause). Basically you get harmonics that are not pleasant for human ears. By all accounts I have read, a 3" exhaust on this car will create a drone at highway speeds. I experienced it on my Protege when I just had the Mazdaspeed axleback muffler, it made driving long distances on the freeway a pain. Keep in mind that everyone's perceptions are different, what I find drones you might not. Or, you might accept it for perceived increased performance.
