Yay! I have a build thread too like all the cool kids! I got my 1992 black and tan for the purpose of building her to STS2 Spec.
Anyway, now it begins. Step one: Make her street legal and get her registered. I've got insurance on er, but I need to get the new cat installed before I can get the car re-inspected (failed for NO2 and HCs), and get a tag. I tried swapping it at Scott's (Velocifero) house this evening, but we couldn't get the nuts off. I guess 14 years will do that. I'll be taking it to a shop later this week. Korey (shadow102) works in the service dept at a toyota dealership in Atlanta, so I'm probably gonna take it down there. On the plus side, I know how my exhaust sounds when I'm going to be done with it. We got 1 of the nuts on the engine side mostly off, and forgot to tighten it. It sounds like I'm driving a Spec Miata around town lol.
Anyway, here are the plans as they stand right now for this season:
1) Get all the fluids changed (tranny, diff, engine)
2) Koni Race struts (front) and Sports (rear). The Sports won't handle the springs I'm going to run up front.
3) 550f/375r GC Coilovers
4) Racing Beat 1 1/8" hollow front sway bar.
5) I'm buying KCBHIWs Corbeau Clubman seat.
6) Advance timing
7) Tune air meter
I've already got 15x7 13.5 lbs. ATS Complite wheels with 205/50 Falken Azenis on the car.
There will be plenty more to come. Hopefully as next season progresses I'll be able to save up a bit more for a couple of shiney engine bits. As for the cat-back, I plan on scavenging a stock flange and bolting up a SuperTrapp muffler directly to the cat. After tonight where it was basically running wide open and dumping right under me, I really don't mind the sound. Also, it has the added advantage of being EXTREMELY light weight and tuneable. For the street, I'd definately run with it pretty well corked, then for the sites w/o sound regs, I could run it wide open, and for the ones that do, I could take out the disks that I need to. They can be swapped while hot, which is another plus. Also...it's cheap lol.
I'll try to keep the parts list updated:
