OK so I need a little help because this is driving me nuts.

About two weeks ago my car starts acting crazy, turns out one of the wires on the Mass air flow connector broke, most likely because the harness was still attached to the battery box causing it to stretch and rip a wire. So it took me a while but i got the pin out and soldered a new wire back on, car runs great and I gave it a little extra slack so it wouldnt happen again. Well this weekend two of the five wires broke, Im not sure if my wires are getting old and more fragile but I just wanna replace it. Ive been searching junkyards and online parts store and cant find a thing. Does anyone know where I can buy a MAF harness or if they know anyone who has one they would sell.
Thanks
Heres a pic just so you know what im talking about. The middle and the one to the right broke right at the clip

Does the other end of harness have a connector? That makes a big difference on your options. Don't think you would want to replace the entire underhood wiring harness.

Oh all I need is about a foot or so of the harness with the clip and I'll just solder the wires onto my existing harness

This happened to me about a year and a half ago and I posted this:

Ended up having my dad go to a salvage yard and getting a new plug for the kinda high price IMO of $65. The high price was because they said they had to ruin a complete wiring harness when they cut the plug off.

My old/original plug has since broke and I replaced it with the one my father found in a salvage yard and I haven't had a problem since. I had enough slack in the wires for BOTH plugs but the reason I haven't had a problem with the newest/current one is that I believe it was the way the wires came out of the plug. Let me explain...

The wires in the first/original plug would exit the plug then immediately bend upwards forming an arc so that the wires would have slack in them. Didn't think this would be an issue since there was plenty of slack in the wires but it turned out I was wrong. When the engine shook at startup the wires would bend back and forth right by the plug and snap off.

The wires in the newest/current plug exit straight out of the plug for about 3 inches THEN bend into an arc giving the wires the slack they need. Now when the engine shakes at startup there isn't any bending of the wires back and forth right by the plug. Instead the wires flex in the gentle arc 3 inches out away from the plug keeping the wires from snapping where they exit out from the plug.

Like I said, I haven't had a problem with it in over 2 years! Hope this helps you when you find a replacement plug. BTW the Mazda 3 MAF plug is exactly the same as the one in a Mazda 6 as well (I know, I have both), however, the wires are of different color. That won't matter as long as you get the proper color of wire in your wiring harness to the proper terminal on the plug. This info might help give you more possibilities if the pickin's not too good in the salvage yards for Mazda 3 MAF sensor plugs.

Good luck!

I hate to bring up an old topic but has anyone ever re-wired the original pig tail? I have called every junk yard in a 100 mile radius and no Mazda 3 / 6 or Protege 5 to be seen. I have a mechanic that says he can re-wire this but I just want to make sure it can be done. Any input?

Thanks

dude. same thing happened to me too. I actually got help from a forum member, his name is Lucaspl88. Message him and see what he can do. Great guy!. For me he re-pinned everything made my wires bigger rather than the dinky skinny ones from stock.
