does anyone know of a website that sells a shortie intake for the mz3? Please note: I'm not interested in buying a CAI or buying the CAI and using just half of it. Also please don't explain to me which one will give me more hp I simply want a website where i can buy a shortie intake for the mz3. thanks.

By shortie do you mean S.R.I??? Because I THINK AEM makes one, but you have to call....and maybe Injen...

K&N has their convertable Typhoon system.

You have to buy the full CAI, but you can install it either as a SR or CAI.

This is the route I am going in as soon as they release it in silver powercoat ;)

i found a shorty..... but there is no way in hell i would actually buy this one.
link

EDIT: I think i just found a short ram from aem. for anyone that cares here is the link

EDIT 2: hmmm the part number for that intake doesn't exsist on aem's website....

aem does make a short ram intake. you can find it here

there is a reason the intake is not on AEM's webpage. part number 22487 does not exist. AEM never went through to completion on the intake. I have spoken to R&D myself at AEM and they have said it will never release. They reserved the part number as well as a SKU code for it and went as far as to release pricing for it but decided 1/2way into development to scrap it.

Any reasons why they canceled it?

AEM released part numbers to us when we were running mazda3online / protege garage. our distributors were given part numbers, pricing and descriptions as well. we took pre-orders for both the cold air intake and the short ram. we were contacted a few weeks into the presale to be told that AEM had cancelled plans for the SRI. I called AEM to ask what the deal was and they basically gave me the big brushoff "theres not enough of a market to justify it". i asked them also if they were producing an intake for the 2.0 and they repeatedly told me that the mazda3 only has one engine size and if i had any other problems to talk to the distributor as retailing "wasn't thier bag".

guess how much i like that company.

as to what they are selling, i would imagine they simply took every part number they could find (dealer pricing on SRIs regardless of car is roughly the same, same with CAI) and put it up there. ask them for pictures of one. i would love to be proven wrong but the fact that AEM's site once said "TBD" and now makes no mention of the intake tells me its vaporware.

i emailed the guy at that website asking if he sold the sri for the 3 and here is what he wrote.

Hello,

All I have is the Cold Airs at the moment for the 3s Manual.

Thanks,
Dorian

yeah and that really sucks. not everyone wants a cai.

very true. i have been thinking of designing and fabbing one up myself but need a donor car to do it

I am making carbon fiber CAIs and SRIs for the Mazdaspeed Protege as we speak, and if it goes well, I plan on moving over to the Mazda 3 to do the same thing. Keep an eye on the thread in MSP Forced Induction to see if I'm successful.
