I would throw some limestone on top of that thing to spice things up and maybe throw some planters in the background for aesthetics. Then you are set evilchango.

Screw limestone...go with the granite.

Looks nice!! Maybe a second-job making/selling these is in your future..

Nice job there on the bench. I've always built my own benches in my shop, and they are way better than anything you can buy. I prefer wood benches because they aren't as prone to vibrations and bounce when you are hammering or using power tools. Also, most of the really expensive stuff isn't that durable.

I'm still working (daily) on a bench I built 10+ years ago.

You might be able to get some bitching birch plywood for the top and clear coat it with some hard coating. I built about 50 PC's for a church and the guy that was with me made some badass PC desks for them out of 2x4's and Birch plywood. They looked damn nice after he was done and the clearcoat was hard as heck and had a nice look to it.

EDIT: NEVERMIND D'OH!

oh crap, yes they do. 3 or 4 gauges to choose from, treated and non. but I think they only sell like 1.5' X 1' sheets.

bitches.... 1.5 x 1 wont do me any good...

I could be totally wrong. When I bought sheet metal there, it was more than 2 years ago at HD. Give a call to Lowes and HD, it's worth a shot. You can always use heavy duty sheet plastic.

You should really just finish it. I mean, that's too long to be working on one bench!

In all honesty your better off calling a custom cabinet place... and buying from them. Raw sheet metal is going to be hard to attach to the bench unless you have the right tools. Even then your going to have to lay a line of screws every foot.
