man it feels good, i got my ms3 in oct 07 and today i just made my last payment. it was a 5yr loan @ 5.99% from my CU as mazda was not giving good apr's when the ms3 first came out, they offered me 7% apr. every little bit extra i made (overtime, side jobs, etc.) went towards extra payments. so now 2yrs 5 mos later i'm done. i put 3500 down, financed 22.5k

plans? i had flirted with the idea of getting an evo X or 370z but i don't really want to have 2 car payments again as i'm still paying on our 09 cx7. i'll just put the 431 a month i was paying, into savings since i'm used to allocating that much a month anyways. i should have a pretty good sized down payment when i'm ready for my next car.

i don't really plan to do anything on the car with all these threads about blowing up, at most i just want to do the full suspension (konis/eibachs/sways/rims) it's not that i hate coilovers, but i want to install and forget it, i will NEVER make adjustments (to lazy)

she has 24k miles on her and no issues so far.

good s*** dude! i bought mine in june of 07 and i have like 30 payments left. i was one that got the bad apr from the dealer.

originally they said 7.49% apr because the ms3 was a specialty car and mazda wasn't offering any incentives on it. i told them no thanks i'm going to my CU, that's when they offered me 6.99. they said they couldn't go lower than that.
so i took the 5.99. it was rough but every little bit helps, whether its 25 bucks, 50 bucks or if you're able to make a double payment. anything extra for me went straight to principle. now i need to do that to the cx7 to completely get rid of car payments. :D

Wow very nice! I have around 20 left on mine and I bought mine in oct 07 as well but my payments are $380.00. This makes me want to start putting more toward my payments just so I can do what you said, put that money in the savings and build the hell out of it lol.

Congratulations. I haven't been free of car payments since I was just out of college- over 15 years now. I pay a bit extra each month, but I doubt my 5 year loan will be done more than a couple of months early. Currently focusing on keeping just one car payment (the MS3) long enough to experience the "no payments" freedom.

Congrats and nice going! Keep her for a while as you save and make it a plan to not have a car payment ever again. I made that decision about 10 years ago and will never let a car payment be a part of my budget. We own both ours and the next ones I buy will be cash again as well.

What about using that money for the CX-9??? Since like u said, u r used to spending that money anyways...Right? The money you would save in interest would be nice...Congrats though! Im paying extra as much as possible, im ahead enough now that my bill says next month instead of this month...Pretty nice...

That rocks! I'm all about paying some extra. I'm down to 21.6k as of this week, and I'm shooting for next summer, the 2 year mark, to be done completely. And that's even with almost 4k neg from trading in the RX8. Can't wait for that last one- it's a great feeling!

yea since i was paying 431 a month for my car, i am going to add 200 on top of the normal cx7 payment, then put the 231 into savings. i know its smarter to just pay the cx7 off quicker, but i want to grow my savings also.

I envy you. The last time I paid a car off was 1988. For me, life without a car payment would be like life on another planet. Good job! Maybe someday I'll have that type of restraint.

Congratulations! I still have about.. 1.5-2 years of payments left. xD

I know what you mean. You can send it to me and I will pay off my MS6!?!?! Haha.

niiiiiice. although i'm not at your level yet, wife and i have recently paid off a few monthly debts, and now are applying those expenses towards other credit cards....i figure once we pay off credit cards, i'll work on the cars. i still have like 3 years left on mine but wife has 2 years on hers....so we'll try to knock her's out first.

i think i'll start using my overtime for my car note like you did....i get tons of overtime and i'd prolly knock off A LOT, if i did that.
