Luxury Package for Canada?

So I dropped by the dealer today again to see if any new info has popped up about pricing or specs. He was a little unsure but he indicated that the leather option is part of package that includes heated seats and 6 CD in dash changer which normally is an option in Canada. I am unclear if it plays MP3s but the optional one does so I can only assume its the same part. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

Well, I wont lie, this is only a guess. But the 'GT' trim down here stateside which will equal your Luxury Package, yeah, does include heated leather seats, blacked out headlight and taillight bezels and Xenon HID headlights. Now, while there is not said to be an integrated MP3 player, I've read in legit news sources that GM, Ford, and Mazda are making IPOD connectivity an option accross the board for all models in the '07 MY. Now I think you were referring to the capability to the CD player playing MP3 encoded discs, but I can't say for sure there... although if I had to guess, I'd say I doubt it.

BUT, there are always slight option differences between the two countries. For example, we have side curtain airbags on our base model 'Sport' trim while you guys do not have 'em on the 'GS' trim. But, you guys have auto headlights and auto windshield wipers and we don't.

Hi, I've been a reader of this forum but this is my first post. I just placed an order for a 07 M5 GT with leather trim here in Canada (Montral).

I was also able to get the whole spec sheets that my local dealer received from Mazda Canada. I can confirm based on these that there is no CD changer with the leather package. The package, as mentionned elsewhere on these forumes, retails at 1130$ CDN. This inlcudes leather trim seats and heated front seets. It also means, I beleive, that most of the black found in the interior of the regular GT or GS models is replaced with an esspreso brown (whatever that is.. no one at the dealership could show me a sample, let alone a picture of the interior). Based from the spec sheets there does not appear to be any changes to lights from previous models. If this model was to come with Xenon beems, you would expect to see something in the specs but nothting.. There may also be a slight change to the AC system because the specs identifies the AC differently from other models. I believe it says that the AC system will show outside temperature.

In terms of colours, heres the deal here in Canada:the GT leather trim cars will be available in silver, white pearl, galaxy grey (new colour, replacing carbon grey) and black. That's it. Both blues are not available here on the leather trim package.

Let me know if you have any questions on the specs. I guess I could scan all 9 pages and post them somewhere (but they're in French).. I don't think this is sensitive info since the rep gave them to me over the counter..

The car should be here early September, can't wait!!

What about Aux input in 2007 model? We use portable DVD player quite often during our long trips . It would be nice to have Aux input instead of using FM transmitter.

Congrats Philster

If you want the english version of the the same text I am sure I can find a soft copy somewhere. Show us some pics when you get it.

BTW "Leather Package" (NOT LUX PACKAGE) is $1130 and "NOBODY" has seen what the car looks like with the package. Only word I have heard is that it may be lighter then the present MX5 leather package.

Ya, I was thinking the dealer guy was wrong about the changer. I would be a heck of deal to throw that in. I've ordered a Galaxy Grey from my car broker too but he asked for an alternate color in case. I'm thinking of Pearl. Silver is just so boring.... then again, I've never owned a silver car though my parents had a few. I wouldn't mind black but I have a black car and one black car is hard enuf to take care of. I figured the grey would be easy to hide the dirt and its the most unique of the 07 colors.

Galaxy Grey rocks. I have seen the color on both MPV and MX5. Cleans up real nice cant wait to see it on the Mazda 5

Ahhhhhh just love it. Looks like it's the #1 car in Montreal right now, there are so many of them!

How I like it? Hehehe, last week-end we had to leave my 18 months twins at their grand parents in Trois-Rivieres for 4 days. So we had to bring:
- Charriot cougar2 infant carrier w/bike attachment + jogging wheel. This takes huge space.
- 2 luggages
- 2 boxes of stuff we had to bring back
- 2 little trucks toddlers love so much to go around on (arrggh the noise ;) ).
- my laptop - never go without it.
- Plus a couple soft bags.

MAN you can put serious stuff in there. Just pile pile and pile. The only thing I had to do is bring the 2nd row seats a little closer to the 1st row so the Charriot was able to fit in. There was even no need to remove side wheels lol.

So this thing is whoa! Not too daddy looking also. Just the perfect dose of sporty look, huge cargo space and fun to drive.

My only gripes:
- I was driving a Jetta 1.8T. So the torque I got in the jetta around 2000RPM I have to go to 5000RPM to get the same feeling. lol, but that little Mazda engine just love to get there :D.
- Fuel economy is not as good as I expected. My jetta was more economical I think. The thing is the engine is revving at 3500RPM@120km/h. So to get it economical, stay around 3000RPM; that's like 105km/h :-/.

I am calculating right now - i'll report how many km I can go with a full tank, with a mix of highway / city.

So all in all I think a smaller engine with a turbo would be better. Other than that, the ride is fun to drive, very comfy and it's fun to drive. The ride is so smooth compared to my Jetta :-).

Oh, and Phil, seriously I want to see some pics of the leather when you get it lol. Having waited one more month (there were 2 months left for the Jetta - ah dman impatience lol) we may have picked this package.

Nothing on an ipod interface availability? I went for the cassette deck for this. Well it sucks, but sound ius better than FM transmitter...

Thanks for the update! Apparently, the 07 M5 have arrived in Canada but are parked at the ports. The dealership tells me that manufacturer often do that in order to liquidated current year cars. He expects the M5 to be released first as there are very little 06 left on the market. End of month is his prediction.. Can't wait!! and yes, expect pictures of the interior from me.

Bonne journe!

Arriving in Mid Sept for me.

I was told by my broker that the car is expected to arrive in Mid-Sept or so. Maybe I should head down to the lot where they keep all the Mazdas and see if they've arrived. I'm supposed to get the first batch. Maybe I can get a pic of a Galaxy Grey one though I'm sure it'll be partially covered with that white film they put for transport.

Speaking of white. I think my second choice of color other than Galaxy Grey would be the White Pearl. That would really look nice with the brown leather. I'd go for black I'd hate to clean it all the time and it'd be so hot for my kid.

Its funny, I don't know which I'm more excited about, the new kid in a few weeks or the new car.

What colour is "galaxy grey"?? I don't see that colour on the mazda.ca website Just the current Platinum silver and the (Yuck) stellar silver metalic.

One thing I have noticed is my Platinum Silver looks really dirty after just a few days of Toronto commuting. my previous car was indigo and I never really noticed the dirt. Currently I'm washing weekly, but like I said by the end of the work week it's seriously dirty looking!

Your wife will understand (I hope) mine did!

Galaxy Gray is in between Platinum Silver and Carbon Gray. FWIW, if I didn't pick Whitewater, Galaxy Gray would've been my second choice.

Here's a Galaxy Gray MX-5.

Yes, I'm sure. If you don't believe me you can be sure by going to MazdaUSA.com and checking out the MX-5 and MPV colors, both are available in Galaxy Gray.
