man.. pics are nothing compare to seeing it in person, but you guys have awesome camras those pics are soo clear

The Solar Eclipse that takes place on August 1, 2008, will be a total eclipse of the Sun with a magnitude of 1.039 that will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern Canada (Nunavut), northern part of Russia, western Mongolia, and China. It belongs to the so-called midnight Sun eclipses, as it will be visible from regions experiencing Midnight sun.
In Siberia, the total eclipse zone will pass through populated places, including the "capital of Siberia" Novosibirsk, and the cities of Nizhnevartovsk, Barnaul, Biysk. Greatest eclipse duration will be reached near the town of Nadym in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Northern Siberia.
A partial eclipse will be seen from the much broader path of the Moon's penumbra, including eastern North America and most of Europe and Asia.

hehe the one that was tonite was a lunar eclipse. they say we wont have another till 2010. solar eclispe and lunar eclipse are different but each are magnificent xD

Ya, I got that, but the lunar eclipse just got me to thinking when the next solar eclipse is... since I've never seen one. Looks like I won't be making the one this year either. That is unless I score a ticket to Siberia, lol

well at least will be able to see a partial eclipse just not total like in siberia
A bunch of us here on campus had telescopes which made it look really cool being magnified so much; they had one on Saturn too, I could see its rings and moons, that was amazing! I've never seen Saturn like that with a naked eye ...well personally through a telescope anyways.

Agreed. But then, I forgot and stayed in to study for Stats & Accounting tests today >.>
As for solar eclipses, the last one I recall being visible in N America was something like '93 or '94. I only remember because the teacher interrupted class so we could go out and "watch" (thankfully it was mid-Spring.) Quite an experience--it got noticeably cooler, and all the shadows from leaves that had come in looked really funky. I think we only got to see something around 70-85% eclipsed...
I think it was '94. I remember because I was in high school during it and we went to the welding shop and grabbed the welding masks. That's the best way to look at a solar eclipse! You can look directly at it. Unlike that stupid "hole in a box" method.
I was in Wisconsin at the time, so it was already kinda chilly out at the time.
Awesome pics for those that took them. It was cloudy here during it. But I took some pics of the lunar eclipse from last summer- but mine didn't turn out nearly as well as any of yours.
