Does anyone know the Torque specs for the lug nuts on the P5??
I am about to do my first tire rotation later this week, and figured I would get a jump on it by asking today. Thanks!

The P5 has 12mm lug nuts so they should be torqued between 80-100 ft/lbs.

just curious, what does the 12mm have to do with it? (not being smart, just being nosey).

i think they're 87.... that's what wheelworks told me when i put on my mazdaspeed rims with my fuzion zri tires.. hmmm wonder if it'll differ from stock rims. should be the same right cuz i used the same lug nuts

According to the FSM, the lug nuts should be tightened to 66-86 ft/lbs (89-117 N/m). I put mine right in the middle at 76 ft/lbs.

I usually torque mine to around 70, 85 seems a bit much!

Also, 12mm is incorrect, more like 21-23mm (I keep one in my car, and obviously not in my car right now!)

We do 90 on the Proteges and the Miata and we change the wheels every weekend.

Mogi: I think he might have been referring to the thread pitch which is 12x1.5. The lugnug size is 21mm for the stock lugnuts.

Just use the lug wrench that came with the car and simply jump up and down on it for the proper torque spec (yupnope)

Yup, thanks Kat, that's what I meant. Thread pitch of 12mm. Sorry for the confusion all.

It's generally accepted that proper lug torque depends primarily on thread pitch (thread pitch is 12mm) -- the higher thread pitch the more torque it can "hold". For 12mm thread pitch it's best to torque at right around 80 ft/lbs (a little lower than my original post actually). Just for comparisons sake, 14mm thread pitch should be torqued to about 90 ft/lbs.
