The MS3 LSD doesn't use clutch plates. I'm not sure that there would be much of a real world advantage with this aftermarket part.
 
The MS3 LSD is a clutch type. There are pluses and minuses to each type. Gear type are a little smoother, but the LSD doesn't work if both wheels have limited traction (like gravel or snow). Absolutely no reason to upgrade, as you won't see too much difference in daily driving.
