Lowering the driver's seat?

I have and '02 p5 with sunroof and am 6'7'', I was wondering if anyone had lowered their driver's seat to give them a little more headroom. I saw that if I bought a racing seat some of those will get you a little bit lower but that's alot of money since I don't actually care for the racing seat itself. I was thinking about trying to get some work done on feet brackets at a machine shop but it looks like it would be really tough. Does anyone have any good ideas? I would be perfectly fine with trying to scrap the seats out of another kind of car if they could fit in. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Take the seat out, cut a few inches out of the bracket and weld it back together.
There really isn' a few inches to cut out.
And actually..Racnig seats tend to sit higher beleive it or not.
I had sparcos and they were heavier and higher than the OEM stuff.

So there isn't an easy solution to this, there aren't seat brakcets that people have installed that naturally sit lower. Are there any other seats from other cars that would fit in the same bolt postition. I am kind of worried about hacking on the only thing the seatbelt is attached to.

This is true. I'm 6'2" and had a sparco in my old car. I touched the ceiling. The brackets are higher and heavier than the stock seat. Maybe you could have someone fab a custom seat bracket that bolts lower? Like sits you lower to the floor.

Its not always true. I have recaros and they definately lowered the seat down a few inches. I'm 6'4" and fit no issues with a helmet on. The only problem is that its damn near impossible for anyone to sit in the seat behind mine now. Also keep in mind that lowering the bracket down is going to eliminate any underseat toe room you might have.

I have the seat lowered as far as the factory turn knobs will let me. I am not worried about he person behind me because they are going to be uncomfortable anyways since I have to move the seat back so far to be able to drive.

Same, I like sitting really low. All you can see is my head when I drive.

Yeah I have the same problem even at 6-4. I bought used and ended up with a sunroof model that a heavier guy had owned, so paring down the padding is one option. The other I looked at was to lower the mounting rails in back. I actually started messing with this on a dealer's car. It looked definitely possible to get, um, maybe an inch. BUT the rail spacing must be maintained. I racked it up messing with it and had a time putting it back.

get a p5 with no sunroof :) or... You could tilt the back portion of the seat farther away from the steering wheel.... And you'll look like a gangsta!

Get a sawzall and cut off the top of the car
cheap and easy :D
don't do it if you care anything about your car though
