ok, I am really stuck between getting h&R springs or eibach pro kit, now If I could get some help on what is better that would be great, also I do not want coilovers because of the problems that occur with them, I also want a descent drop, eventually I want to add a front lip and rear bumper so lowering it too much would not work for that, so just enough so that I can put 17" rims with a autoexe body kit, thanks to anyone who can help me out.

If you are in the that jam....u should go wit the H&R springs...they are by far more better quality and enginierring....they have nice rides also...eibach's on he other hand tend to go soft after a while...are american engineered and have a great name but between the two....H&R si by far superior...as for a drop with the H&R, i dont know if the p5 is lowerd outta factory cause these companies go by the stock protege hieght...so like in the MP3 with the H&R's you woill get no even a half inch drop...(not worth my money)....but intrax is what i am lookin into...they have the best drop...supposeidly...1.75"....so really another 1" maybe on the MP3...so take it how ever you want to....H&R is better quality though....

I've never heard of the intrax, are they any good, I really like the sound of the drop hieght, will I still be able to put 17s on and a body kit?

If you live in an area where it snows in the winter and you don't own a second car, I suggest you get coilovers. It will allow you to adjust the height of your ride. If you do get coilovers, make it a habit to keep the perches clean or you'll risk having them sieze up on you. Intrax has a good name behind them and their products seem to be of good quality. I'd use them if I had the cash and didn't want coilovers.

coil-overs are definaltey the way to go...i honestly heard nothin but bad s*** on GROUND CONTROL...so i am hesitant to buy thier products....so i am just going to wait for the JIC Coil-overs..and i'll wait on tha money for a while...so i am between H&R-EIBACH-BG-and INTRAX....but i hear all these springs require some cutting to get the car to look even half way even..so i am very skeptikal.....anyone who can clear this up PLZ DO!!!!!!!!!!....

yeah cutting the aftermarket springs...i was reading on the protegeclub board that people with the h&r's have to cut the frnts cause they fit like not even a finger btwn the fender and the rear tire but in the frnt they can easliy fit 2 fingers....i dont know if i like tha way that sounds......i dunno...it is making me think twice from buyin those springs...the intrax i hear have a prblem after a year....i found all this stuff on the protege club forum under suspension.....take a look

Its because the rear fender is lower than the front ones like BMW fenders if you ever noticed them. thats why the front looks higher than the rear. I have the eibach pro-kit and it looks like i need to lower the front .5 inches more.

SEE....is this gonna look retarded??...dam that s*** is really horrible..i think....i know that if i have the springs and this is the case then i will go crayz when it looks un even...does it really look that awkward????......

I'm pretty sure that the sedans fenders are even front to back, but don't quote me on that one.

Here take a look at my car:

Its more noticeable in person rather than in this pic. Theres more pics in my sig link.

Definitely dont get the Ground Control coilovers though...I test fitted the AutoEXE front spoiler on my car and barely had 3inches of clearance between the bottom of the lip and the ground...GC's are at the highest setting too...what a rip....Go with the H&R's they are the best value. Even if you have to cut the fronts (I dont think this is necessary one of our P5's has them and I looks killer with 18's.)it should be fine if all you do is cut one coil...the H&R's have a few sets of coils on the top that if you cut wouldnt effect the spring rate....but cutting is ghetto...just do it right the first time.

Yeah...I have had a few sets of cut H&R's on my other cars so its definitely do-able...but ProtegeTech is correct in stating that if you cut those coils the spring will not fit tightly into the perch...and if you fully unload the suspention (catch some air) the spring would not be tightly locked in its perch...a good but useless point for street driving in my opinion. If you must cut them...then I would not recommend more than 1 coil...but then I wouldnt recommend cutting either :p . Another bad thing about cut springs is that everytime you lift the car for repairs, before you can lower the car back down...you have to align the springs on their perches...this gets old fast. You may want to look into the Ground Controls with a longer spring...this is possible and would give the additional height adjustibility necessary for you to run the AutoExe front spoiler.

i have the ground controls and with them on the highest setting i would say it sits factory or higher, right now i have them about 1/2-3/4 of the way down and they are great for me. no problems yet. I also read that the first run or so of the ground controls the springs were indeed too short, and the problem was corrected. I found this when doing research on them before buying them. I personally would take them over skunk2.
