Lower grill cutouts

Hi:
Can someone tell me what these 2 rectangular cutouts on my new CX9's lower
grill are for? Looks like they can be pried off for access to ????

Like... caps in the bumper? I imagine they are so you can screw in the tow hook that is located in the storage compartment in the back.

If you pop one off and there's a threaded hole, yup... that's what it would be for.
 
Correct. For the towing eyebolts. There is just one in the back and just one bolt provided.
 
You have a threaded bolt like thing in your rear floor compartment inside the vehicle. In case you get stuck and need help, you can hook up that hook like threaded thing into that cutout, thread it into place and hook up your included towstrap that is also in that rear compartment. Nifty, and thanks Mazda!
 
They say it's not intended as a tow point. Just an anchor for transport. Use at your own risk, blah, blah, blah,..

So I shouldn't be referring to it as a "Towing" Eyebolt.
