Love the CX-7, but traded it in today....

Traded it in for an '07 AWD SS Trailblazer...CX-7 is fun but it does not get anywhere near the mileage I'd like for what I expected, the paint job is just chipping off for no reason, and I wanted something that not only had more power stock, but was easier to add hp...

FWIW, I went in, got the recalls taken care of, and the dealership was a Chevy/Mazda dealership, and have always wanted the SS Trailblazer. Made an offer we couldn't refuse and ran! BTW, maybe it's just me, but with the new valve actuator installed in the car and the PCM reflash, the CX-7 did seem a bit peppier to me.

Now I gotta get rid of my AEM short ram intake and top luggage rack bars...

How much hit did you take? Did the dealership give you the full value of trade-in, using "excellent condition," and your actual mileages? Last time I was in a dealership trying to trade in my old toyota, the dealer just used the base number off kbb.com w/o care of condition or mileage. Obviously, the number was too low for me to bother with it.

gosensei- It was a pretty good hit...only got 21,000 as a trade in, but not any worse than I would have thought...heck, most vehicles lose at least 3,000 just by driving them off the lot...and with it having 6000 miles in less than 4 months...it was worth it to me! And it was the highest trade in value allowable, and since we still owed 22.5K, we had to add some on to the price of the SS, but price was virtually unchanged with their financing and payment plan.

Yeah, talk about 12mpg, and lower if you like the throttle, and that interior leaves me speechless.

But I see why you traded it, happy trails in your blazer, seeing as how you like to upgrade, the SS will go down in value so fast its not even funny.

Just out of curiosity what do you think happens to the value of your CX-7 when Mazda gives 2000 dollar incentives?
I will tell you, it comes right off your resale. Take a look at his trade in value.

The CX-7 has much better resale values, in case you did not know. He was trading in an 07, the 08's are out now and only losing 1.5K is a great deal on such a short period of time with high miles, AND it was a trade in, they gave him a lowish offer. Try trading that SS in for something else, you will lose a lot more.

Actually, trade in value through the books was high 20K, they rounded it up.

And depreciation is relative. You're more likely to find a "Chevy" enthusiast down the road that just has to have a Trailblazer SS simply because it sports the "SS" badge. Thus, him/her paying more than trade in value as it's a toy they personally want, buying for less than what it would cost from a dealer, and I get more than I would if I traded it into the dealer. I could care less how depreciated it gets, because it's ultimately the wife's car and she loves it...she's a chevy girl.
I'm already in town keeping up in MPG with the CX-7, @ 15.2 mpg, and it's only got 100 mpg. A Superchips or Diablo chip tuner has real world evidence of not only adding more power(the part I really like) but also adding a good 1.5-2 mpg. Yeah, when I step on it, it'll drop to 1 gallon per mile , but at least it'll get moving. But I see what you're saying. This would not be a financially sound idea if I planned on trading up the vehicle in a few years.

(blah)Haha, okay...FYI, I'm getting better mileage right now with the TBSS than I was ever getting with the CX-7, so that's worth it's weight in gold in "making sense" as to why I traded it in in the first place. I understand that factory paint jobs are not that good, but the CX-7 had roughly 30 areas over the car with small paint chips missing, which a few that came off when washing the car in the front of my house, which NO other car I had ever had, new or old, had issues like that. So, you're "argument" doesn't make sense. I did not come to the Lounge area to justify anything until this reply.

In case you've never been in any kind of a forum before, most forums have the lounge section to just chat and BS, which is what I was doing with this thread.

I ended up trading in a good vehicle for another good vehicle, plain and simple. Take it for what it's worth. Everyone else, thank you for you educated replies...hahaha(cryhard)

yea, my new vehicle gets crazy gas mileage compared to the CX7 i traded in as well. Oh, and the trade-in value for a CX7 is not all that great because of the 07 end of year deals, you would be lucky to get $22K for a fully loaded GT even with the tech package...

oh well, if mazda releases a CX7 with a V6 and manual, i will be waiting in line for it!
