Lotus Elise

beauty, While I was in Europe over the summer I rented one....the Pro is no challenge for the Lotus. I stayed in London with my cousin who drives a Peugeot 307xsi that's pretty much done to the nuts (he's active in the amature ralleys) and the lotus would still blow him away...on the street.

Well it seems now you guys are talking about the exige a lot, and that would utterly destroy. I'm no expert, i've never raced or driven one, it was just a guess from what I read. But I knew it would get comments back :)

The Exige no longer exists as a new vehicle. The newest Elise has the same HP (but with a few more amenities... like padding on the seats and windows).

anyone remember the article that r & D did a few years back. 8 best handling cars in the world. the Elise was there, and mp3, porshe, EVO, m3, etc.

The mp3 didn't do so bad. But yeah, the elise is awesome.

I'm amazed at how teeny the elise is.. I knew it was small, but even the msp dwarfs it

The Exige will be returning in a couple of years. It will have the same powertrain setup as the car we picked up but with less weight, stiffer suspension, better braking, and it won't be street legal... Race car only...

Car has 190HP and weighs just over 1950lbs. I got away from it on several stretches, but I hold no illusions. It would hand me my ass any day of the week once it is broke in. Realize that the car had approximately 200 miles on it when we got to the gap and couldn't be taken over 6000rpm, so you never even get to hit the VVT changeover. It is very hard to get in and out of. I can't really describe it. You have to see it. If you think that you ever want one, start practicing yoga and get a girlfriend who is double jointed. You are gonna need it

oooh the lotus the lotus, it was pretty cool though how a couple of years ago, they were only availble through grey import. This is one sweet car, and how much was the option to get the hardtop? Hehe has the same setup I want. Nice choice. Is he going to revert it to the original setting with no a/c??? I'm so glad they are finally bringing this car over. Now all they gotta do is bring some of that vauxhall love over and it's a full blown roadster war. Watch out wannabe s2k, z4, and boxster. These 2 will eat you for lunch

That is the God's honest truth! Better pray you don't have big feet, too. I had to take off my shoes to drive it. (eek2)

can someone explain to me the greatness of the lotus? why did they choose to use such a low hp powerplant? i just don't really understand...

Research Horsepower to Weight. It will help clarify the powerplant they used. The car is in the 13 second range in the quarter mile with that motor. That isn't exactly slow. More importantly, it is a COMPLETE package. It pulls 1.03 G on the skidpad stock. It isn't just some super fast straightline car.

ditto what the guy above me said. The engine they used is extremely powerful for as light as it is, and the lotus is first and foremost a handler, it just happens to be very quick straight line also. Before this, the most pwoerful motor you could get in a regular elise was like 130hp. Its very much like the miata concept, except it is a lot lighter ;)

I live in Atlanta and I just wanted to post the pics I took of the Lotus Elise that races autocross monthly here. (2thumbs)
