I've lost my back up key and the dealer wants $150 to replace it!
Do I have a cheaper option? What have you done?

Have a look at this thread, which has a wealth of information regarding keys.

The keys must of course be programmed. The owner can program third and subsequent keys, but it requires two keys to program a third. If you only have one key the dealer must program a second key. ($$).

Your options as I see them:
1. Bite the bullet and get a replacement key from the dealer. After you have it, source a third key (blank), the kind with the transponder but not the remote unlock, have a locksmith cut it, and program it yourself. Source information and the programming procedure are described in the thread linked to above. Once you have that third key, the NEXT time you lose a key you can get a replacement on the internet and program it yourself.

2. You could get a blank key online, have it cut by a locksmith, and then take it to the dealer to be programmed. That might save you a few bucks over buying it outright from the dealer.

my bestfriend here had to pay 109 for a new key last year to replace his keys for his Premacy 06 from here http://www.autokeysquad.com/cost around $150-160 i think that is reasonable price.. they had to program a chip inside the key to the car they said to make it start the engine.
