Lost 2nd, 4th, and Reverse!!!

What the hell....just finished 2 weeks ago putting in my beautiful new forged engine, and last night getting off the highway, i could not downshift into
4th gear...then at the light, could not get it into 2nd....wtf? Put it on the lift today and linkage seems ok....what the hell is wrong with my tranny!!! Had it rebuilt with new welded diff 2 yrs ago....starting to hate this car....grrrr

Im not the greatest with trannys but sounds like you lost the synro to 2nd and 4th. 2nd and 4th normally are shared. Maybe some of the people that have taken theirs apart can chime in.

I have seen it happened exactly the same way you describe it when my clutch went on a Z24. Have it checked, could be that

If you turn off the car, can you shift it in 2-4?
If yes, probably the clutch
If not, synchro.

cannot put in those gears at all even with engine off, including reverse... wow...i didn't even hear any noise, or feel anything funny shifting it or anything...

Nope...found it. My 5th gear lost a tooth and that tooth was preventing a rod from moving out all the way...grrrrr.....need a gear

ouch... i was gonna say shift linkage was hitting something, but internal is probably more logical. that sucks dude.

sounds like its time to upgrade your tranny gears, since you forged the motor . might as well get it done and save the extra headaches(sick)

the reason when i did my motor.. i put stronger gears in

i cant use 3rd on my car, but when its off it goes right in

so that means its the clutch then? i just got it like last year, ****** mazda people didnt do a great job i guess

they even left a shop rag in between my tranny and block(hand)
