Looking to buy MP3

Hello, I'm new to these forums and I have a few questions.

I'm looking to buy a Mp3 in November or sometime around then. I live in California, so the cold weather issues should not be much or a problem with me.

I currently drive a 1996 4Runner, and its starting to die at 190,000 miles. I love the look of MP3's and figured this would be the best place to research them before I buy on.

First off, I'm looking to spend no more then $9,000 on one. I have seen them going for $7,000 and up on here and Ebay.

For that price range how many miles would be expected?

What issues would I have as far as reliability and problems?

What are the best upgrades for these cars if you are on a tight budget?

Lastly, how would I go about finding one in my area? I have searched Craigslist, Ebay, Autotrader etc.

Thanks a lot!

You should be able to get one for like 6 if not less. For about 9 you could probably get an msp.

If I won Lotto I could have sold my MP3 by November...

BTW, which region of CA you are in? To be honest, even I do not see many MP3s or MSPs around So Cal...maybe I am staying home too much lol...

Welcome and good luck on your future MP3...

I know, I love your car! I doubt you will still have it buy November + your all the way in GA.

trust me coming to GA for it would be well worth it. And like other have said you could get a MSP for the price you are looking at. I had mine for sale for 9k not too long ago i just stopped pushing it though so i still have it

Yea, I know it would be worth it! Thanks for the info, I really would rather have a mp3 then a MSP but who knows, things change in 5 months. What is the difference in the two? Turbo and what else? Also do anyone know how much it is to get cars shipped across country?

Turbo, LSD, Drive shafts, Suspension settings. And little things like slightly different body kits very subtle differences though.

the turbo and LSD make it all worth it....especially the LSD.

I just sold my MP3 for $7500, it had 70k miles on it. I would say it was in "good" shape, not great nor excellent by any means.

I just bought my MP3 from AZ in Jan. 56k miles, very clean and great body. Rear end was damaged and rims are very curb rashed. Paid $8100. For a shipping quote, try DAS, dependable auto shippers. For me shipping from AZ to CO would've been $1900, but to ship from FL to CO only $750. It depends a great deal on where it's coming from and going too.

Tight budget mods: CAI, MP3's already come with a fairly high flow exhaust, but you could do a cat back for about 300. Header, short shifter, underdrive pulley, electric supercharger (just kidding, don't buy that)

I bought my MP3 in Philly and drove it home to chicago. Plane ticket was about $120 for 1 way and I spent about another $120 in gas/food and 8 hrs later I was home. Fly in and drive home, FTW.
