Looking for a sanity check...Selling my MS6 for a ??

lol wtf? did you blow the insurance guy or what?

naw, its called being a good driver and a multi car discount. ain't my fault i get good rates on my neon.

but on a serious note, for the srt's its usually alot more expensive, but put another car on and it will drop alot! my girlfriends truck is more than my srt.
other than that, i have never had a prob with the car, only probs were the ones i caused. also gets good on gas when i stay off the throttle. if you want anymore info. lmk.

Daniel

why do you say that? 140 a month is pretty average...I pay just over 100 right now and I have had 2 major accidents. I turn 25 in september and then my rates will drop to the point where I will pay about 90 per month.

EDIT: and I have full coverage and rental car added in

i have every type of coverage maxed out. i like the fact that if the car breaks down, i can get a rental, and if someone crashes into, or i total my car, i will get a check to go get a new one.

you think it has to do with where you live? maybe people arent as reckless/bad drivers over there lol...

hey jdub, if you come out to Cleveland the cleveland6club would prolly be able to help you out with removing those mods, and we wouldn't charge you. hell a couple of the guys might want some of your stuff...
if your interested throw up a post at cleveland6club.com

Yeah i am in the same boat. Rental coverage, new car coverage, etc. It used to be a lot more, but I was late on a couple payments to the point where we had to rewrite my policy in order to not be dropped from the insurance carrier...The result was a 700 a year drop in my rates! The woman that wrote everything up was pissed! She was like "You were irresponsible and didnt make your payments on time! Your premium should go up a little, not drop 700 a year!!!" I got lucky i guess, i am sure i have a few people looking after me from beyond the grave too.

Well I'm taking the plunge on the new car tonight after work. I decided I didn't want to get a used car and have to deal with any of the issues that can come from getting a high milage car.

I reworked the numbers and decided that I wanted a payment more in the $250-$275 range so that ment any used car was gonna have 75K on it and I didn't want that.

So I settled on a......2007 Ford Fusion S, 5-Speed Manual with the 2.3L I4 with a whopping 160HP and 156Ft-lbs. Only because my dad works for Ford, so I get the A-plan and I physically couldn't get in a Mazda 3 or a Ford Focus, I'm 6'-4" tall and 235lbs, and I couldn't get the deal I wanted on a Mazda 6i. Besides it would be too wierd to get out of my MS6 and into a 6i. The interior would be too similar, just without all the fun speed.

I got payments of $268 a month and the gas milage should be around 28-30mpg, insted of the 21-22 that I get in the MS6, and the very best part will be that I can stop paying through the nose for 93 and start buying 87 again.

All in all it's not gonna be too bad, it's not good either but it is a means to an end so I can live with it. Now I just gotta sell my MS6 because they only wanted to give me $18K for trade. I just laughed and said that I'll sell it outright.

SO SOMEBODY PLEASE BUY IT!!!!!! :D

I'll post pics tomorrow.

Bummer on the MS6. But, Congrats on the new car. Fusions are actually nice for being a Ford and are a sign of good things to come for that company. At least you got the 5 speed, so driving it should be fun still, albeit just slower. But, the pros of the Fusion over the speed are endless when looking at it from a mature point of view, so it was a good decision: Lower payments, Lower insurance, better gas mileage, lower octane fuel, better "family" car (should the need arise in the next 4 years), blends into traffic better than Arrest me Red. Plus, there is less chance of you modding this car, so the dealer will actually honor the warranty in 3 years. It sucks right now, but youll be glad you did it later when you arent living with the parents.

Well after driving it a lot tonight I can tell you it will take a while for me the get used to going this slow again. The clutch engagement is a little easier than on the MS6 but even though I haven't "got on it" yet I can tell there is just no pep at all. (cryhard) I missed the AWD the very first time I had to pull out in traffic and the shifter just feels rubbery, you have to be carefull when you put it in 5th because it likes to stick if you push the shifter all the way to the right and then up, you kinda have to glide on an angle from 4th to 5th....carefully.

Growing up sucks:'((ughdance)(bang)(pow)(sad1).....but I guess I did walk into this with my eyes open. So I just gottta keep reminding myself that this is a means to my own place and I'll be OK.

On another note I got my first scratch on the way home from the dealership, I got a rock chip in the front passenger door handle, it's pretty small but a white scratch on a black car sticks out pretty good. So needless to say I spent $71 on Ford OEM mudflaps tonight. This is one more mod than I wanted to do to this car. But since I live on a dirt road I figure this one will be worth the money.

Not that anybody cares ( :D ) but I'll post some pictures tomorrow night.

I've been following this thread and I was HOPING you wouldn't sell your baby but in the end...You gotta do what ya gotta do...Just be sure to get BACK into a Mazda ASAP after the Fusion either bores the hell out of you or it falls apart :p jk...well maybe ;)

In anycase, I need to know honestly...if you would like to keep your Moderator status and continue to help our 6/MS6 community...It's kosher either way but just make sure if you do stay on...You will make the most of it!

Enjoy the new ride & post (pics)

Just stay!! You don't need to have a 6 to be the mod, just have half a brain and clean up our messes, ha ha. Waiting for those pics! And remember, never leave em stock!

I'm already thinking of buying a TWM Short Shifter for the Fusion. The shifting just feels too rubbery. I've been reading on some fusion forums that the SS for the 6i is the same parts and fits perfectly, along with a few other suspension parts and such. I really don't want to spend a bunch of money on it because in the end it will still be a 4cyl. N/A Fusion. I'm thinking I'll just keep driving it and every few months when I'm about to loose my sanity, I'll get a new $100 part and hope that is helps a little....we'll see.

As for the mod status...I really haven't decided on that yet. I'll have to give it more thought when I actually sell the MS6, and let me tell you that will be a sad day. I'm 26 and the MS6 is my 8th vehicle and I've never looked back after trading up to the next one, but this time I truly think I'm gonna shed a few tears when I see that MS6 driving away.(sick)

Hey JDUB, you live in Carlton, I used to work out there at a place called Guardian Ind. Anyways I live in Dearborn Heights and just to let you know you can get houses around here for great prices. BTW were you driving a telegraph N around 8-9mi. Because I saw a red MS6 and it could have been you. This was a few days ago. I live at home and Im 25. I know it sucks, but Michigan economy is s*** right now. I plan to be out at 26. Yea I could get an appartment, but it just seems like your throwing your money away. Any ways man let me know

Nope that wasn't me, I don't get up that way very often...come to think I don't think I've ever been through that section of Telegraph. Yes the economy is pretty crappy but I'm pretty sure my job will last for a good long while. I work at the Fermi2 Power station in Newport as a I&C Designer. Right now we have a backlog of work for the next 2 years and hopefully during that time DTE will decide wheather or not they will build Fermi3 in which case I'd pretty much be setup for the next 15 years+, but for now I just gotta keep hoping and wating. I also have a mountain of Credit Card debt right now, so I gotta pay them off before I can get my own place and that will take the better part of the next year, pending I sell my MS6 soon rather than later. Each month I have to make two car payments puts me that much further from my goals, which are to have my CC's paid off and be watching the kickoff of the Lions first game of the 2008-2009 season in my own place.

Well here are those picture that I promised. It's not as nice as the MS6 but it is still a clean new car.

Wow. I almost want to take back every good thing Ive ever said about the Fusion. Ive been in a Fusion SEL V6 and that was nice. Ford definetly does cheap out with the lower models.

I like the choice, and the look.

BTW - Ford doesn't cheap-out any more than Mazda. I had an 04 Mazda6s Grand Touring Automatic - then in the space of the last year went from CX7 to Mazda6i, then MX-5, and now guess what . . . an 07 Mazda6s Grand Touring Automatic. Everything is back - with more!

kinda late, but if your living with your parents. Your better off staying there and free loading for awhile. You will find out that by selling your car and trying 2 get a house that's out of your budget is only going 2 make u take steps back.

U have 2 have a steady income and start being responsible and saving up money. "Selling your car and getting money for it 2 pay it off, then turning around ditching out more money for another car is (STUPID)". You are just putting yourself more into debt.

If you can barely afford a car, what makes you think you can buy a house?? A car is the worst investment you can get in, besides buying a house!! Buying a house is the smartest thing you can do, but make sure you have a steady income, good job.

I hope the best for you............................good luck!!

My job is steady, just because I said there was a 2 year backlog dosen't mean that I only have two more years of work left. There has be at least a 1 year backlog of work at my site for the last 10 years and most of the time the backlog is more in the 3 to 4 year range. Also I have no problem affording both cars for as long as it takes. Even after adding on the Fusion payment and insurance I still have $600+ a month left over. The whole point of getting it first was the good deal that I got. When I sell my MS6 I will have ~$1300 a month left over, and that is without lowering my 401k contribution amount.

I also have ~$15k in credit card debt that I need to get out of also and that will take me the better part of the next year, then I'll look into getting my own place. Trust me I've thought this out and It is a long term plan that has taken me two weeks to come up with. And before you say $1300 isn't enough, I plan on moving into a Mobile Home Park and I have worked out all the numbers and it will be more than enough. I should have ~$300 a month leftover, depending on the utility usage each month.

Well you should keep it that way!!

if you make 1300 a month, and are trying 2 get out of the car payment 2 keep your 1300 income and buy something else cheaper with a house payment. You are going 2 be living paycheck 2 paycheck.

I also have ~$15k in credit card debt that I need to get out of also and that will take me the better part of the next year, then I'll look into getting my own place.
That's the smartest thing 2 do right there.

I should have $300 a month leftover, depending on the utility usage each month.
See that's ur first mistake right there, don't guess!!

i don't know how you get paid, weekly or bi-weekly. But if you get paid bi-weekly, look you said you make 1300 a month so $650 every 2 weeks.

first paycheck=$650
650-494-=156............MS6 car payment
156 is your left over from car payment. Then you got Insurance, yearly tags, gas.

156 isn't enough for all of the above. Now if you were 2 lower your payment like to 325 like you want. That's an extra 170bucks right there. So 156+170=326bucks. That right there probably max's you out for 2weeks.

last paycheck=$650
650- electricity, gas, water, mortgage/rent, groceries, miscellaneous.etc!!

think that's enough, where is the leftover going 2 be for your fun or credit card payment??

Trust me you are better off until you start making more money or start saving up money, or when ur car is almost or paid off. Getting rid of it, is the dumbest thing 2 do.

I've been there and done that. I just got rid of my MP3 $383.03 month payment. With only about 6,000 left 2years ago for my Audi and started all over with payments again!!

People don't realize they are just diggin there-selfs in more into a hole than they really can afford.

Your better off FREELOADING while you can 2 get onto your own 2 feet.

If you didn't have a car payment, then i would say go ahead and get your own place, but you do have a car payment so that hurts.

You should really think about getting another Job...

I would have kept the speed6, because in the end you are still going to struggle...

I know you hate the fact that you are living in your parent's home, but you need to knock down that dept, and make sure you can stand on your own two feet comfortably.

I know it feels good to be on your own trust me I been there, and I couldn't do it..I was LIVING CHECK TO CHECK and that's not fun.

Your Fusion is beautiful, change those wheels quick!!! Good Luck may God smile upon you, and your queen loves you....
