Long-Term Quality - Mazda: The Devilish God

Good read!

Had a base model 89' Mazda B2200 since new, rebuilt the motor after around 150k and then ended up replacing it a few years after that. This truck was a tank and it'd still be here if some emotionally compromised woman in a Ford Ranger hadn't driven into it.

The Mazda 5 crapvan that totaled my first P5 I would never buy. The airbags should have deployed on that vehicle and they did not.

is a mazda 5 a van? it looks like a protege 5 or mazda 3 hatchback with a van back end its ugly

The 5 is built on the 3 platform with a slightly heavier duty suspension. They actually are pretty good cars, don't have many issues with them aside from swaybar bushings and struts.

Two of the 4 "bad" cars didn't run on conventional engines. RX-8 had a Rotary and the Millenia S had a Yamaha developed engine, the Miller Cycle. I'm 99.9% sure the Miller cycle is what killed the Millenia's reliability, because it was a pretty nice car otherwise.

I say good on Mazda for breaking the mold and trying something new.
