Long reach plugs - anyone tried?

I know some people here are familiar with Miatas, and a common simple mod for them is to change the factory BKR6E-11 to ZFR6E-11.. it's a slightly extended reach plug that the primary benefit is getting the spark more centered in the cylinder.

I haven't tried it yet, and don't know how much clearance exists from the piston to the cylinder head/spark plug, but thought I'd share this random thought of the day for someone to ponder. My plugs have a bit over 40k on them, and I'm entertaining the idea of replacing them so I can feel happy on the inside.

FWIW the BKR5E-11 is a copper replacement plug that can be used in place of our factory Iridium plugs if wanted. Copper or iridium really doesn't matter, it's stupid easy to change plugs on a 4cyl car, it's not a 4th gen F-body or anything so changing every 30k I'd be okay with.

I believe that there is reason why the manufacturers want the plugs even(almost) with the chamber surface and only the tip inside the combustion chamber in the head.

I am using Denso IK series with no problems at all.

yes and they are for heads that they need a longer neck in order to be in the "right" height inside the chamber.
