Local Mazda Dealership Picking Our Pockets... Again !!

I work at the dealer and we suggest 5,000 miles for the first oil change (included free for all of our customers) to remove any particulates generated during the break-in period. Beyond that, follow the maintenance schedule. Keep receipts for any DIY work (for warranty purposes) and always use manufacturer recommended materials. Happy motoring!

I'm pretty sure the dealer is using oil that is warranty approved and meant for your CX5.
Our dealer uses Mazda full synthetic 0W20, that comes in a 1L jug. They tell me that is all they use in the Skyactives. The first 2 oil changes were free, and when I asked about the oil, they gave me one of the jugs that still had a bit of oil left over. (can't use the full 5L).
Don't be so sure. My dealer uses a brand of oil I've never heard of for standard oil change. I saw someone said his dealer uses dino oil which definitely not Mazda approved. Most dealers use bulk oil and you never know what kind of oil in the bulk. (whistle)

If you don't trust the dealership and don't want to do your own oil changes, then either find another dealership that you can trust, or bring your own oil.

Mazda dealers use BULK OIL that comes out of drums. They spec out Castrol 0W-20 synthetic for the CX5.

They do NOT use the Mazda moly oil because that only comes in 1quart bottles. One has to buy it specifically and change it themselves. The moly oil is factory filled in Japan since that is where the moly oil is made.

Interesting on the spark plug interval:

Any chance those countries still use leaded gas/petrol? That would impact plug life.

If they used leaded petrol (gas) it would poison the catalytic converter. Perhaps the unleaded fuel is not to the same standard as elsewhere?
