Local dealer hooked me up even though they did not sell me the car

I bought my CX9 used from a ford dealership about 30 miles from home. Two of my rims were corroded on the spokes and the center caps and both front doors had the silver paint flaking off the interior panel.

I called my local Mazda dealer to see if they would fix the problems under warranty. They did offer to fix the wheels and replace the panels, even though I did not buy the car from them.

I went to pick up my ride and found that they decided to sand and paint all 4 wheels to make them like new. I realize that they probably wanted to make sure that the paint matched on all the wheels, but i still feel that they deserve some praise for doing the right
thing.

If you live in the Pittsburgh area, Smail Mazda in Greensburg went above and beyond to take care of a Mazda customer who never spent a dime at their establishment. They definitely won my business for any future purchases or service I do not want to do myself.

Just thought I'd share my experience in case it may benefit any other members on here.

My in-laws were looking for something, they ended up with a Pilot, while I tried to convince them to go for a CX-9. I talked with a salesperson at Small Mazda to let her know that they were looking and cx-9 was kind of in the running, and she was really nice, and not pushy.

My wife is from Murraysville (where the in-laws are)

Murrysville is not that far from me. Real nice area. Their high school is our high school's biggest rival in football now I think, but I haven't paid much attention since playing in the early 90's.

My dad bought his Acura TL and a Caddy CTS from Smail, but I was unsure if the Mazda side would offer similar service to the "luxury" of the dealership. Turns out that they do. It is not often that you leave any dealership with a positive opinion, so I felt it was worth noting.

Ours were a night and day difference. I could take my fingernail on the old ones and fleck paint off. When we got them replaced in 2010 (didn't see the TSB till then) the replacements were like they should be, and how they are on the 2011's. So they may have not replaced yours with the new paint version, just some off another vehicle or something. I know for a fact they had to order 4 replacement trims, as I saw them when (in the baggies) I dropped them off to be replaced.

They replaced all 4 of ours, but still, even now, just so much as hitting your watch off of it leaves a big scratch. If you think about it, not many cars have a painted and clear coated part in that area of the door

I found the TSB on here and took it in with me. They claimed to have never heard of the issue at first. I figured this would be a waste of time (especially with the amount of people on here reporting the problem), but the dealer surprised me and said it would be covered.

They are replacing the panels, they just ordered the wrong ones (rear) the first time. Hopefully the new ones will be a little better, but they cannot be any worse than the factory ones. Thank you for offering to look into it for me though.

A good message board is a godsend for any car owner. I have memberships for almost every car I have owned over the last 10 years. This board is great, just not very active. I figure it is due to the low sales volume as opposed to any other car I have owned. Just not as many people can afford \ want a 3rd row CUV as opposed to compact \ mid size sedans.

yeah. well i tried that exact thing with my watch and wedding ring, when ours got replaced and they were like the normal ones in our 11. So i'm still thinking that they didn't get you the corrected paint version.

I had literally had to go out and scratch up the back right plate, because it hadn't been scratched yet, so i could get all 4 replaced as I was talking to the parts lady on the phone. :)

Wow glad to read this. I just bought a 2008 and it has the silver painted all peeled off on the inside. I am going to see if the dealer will replace them. Its worth a shot. Glad to hear about great service in PA.
