LOC, PAC Add an Amp Adapter, MTX Re-Q, or JL Cleansweep?

I've been doing some research since I'm helping my friend do an audio upgrade on his MZ3 (I drive a P5). He wants to upgrade the front speakers, add a sub, and amp everything up, so the question is will a LOC suffice, or should I look into a sound processor? Additionally, PAC has an "Add an Amplifier Adapter":

and it's advertised as having a linear frequency output. Searching the forums, I have heard nothing about this adapter. Can anyone weigh in on this?

I've also been eyeing the MTX Re-Q5, since the Cleansweep is so much more expensive, but if the PAC adapter is what I'm hoping it is, I might just go with that.

Thoughts? I'd appreciate your help.

If he has the Bose supposedly it has a pretty good FLAT output curve. Either use an amp with line level inputs or use a PAC unit like that one. You could get by with other PAC's also depending on whether your splitting the signal under the seat or behind radio and such. I'm going to post a question right now you may want to read about what I'm trying to do, I'm looking for the best sound I can get for the least work, as usual..lol

i use a re-q and it seems to work just fine. 2008 ms3, stock bose HU. i am using a pdx 4.150, pushing a 6.5" type r component set and one 12" type r in a custom 2.5' box. for the price and function, i don't think the re-q can be beat.

Might also want to look at the AudioControl DQL-8. It's what I'm putting in my car although I'm going fairly high end with Focal K2P components.

The DQL-8 is a great choice if you need time alignment and other advanced settings.. but most users on here will not be needing such features.

the DQL-8 is also getting very hard to find, as it was pulled from the market a while ago.

Alpine's PXE-H650, and the soon to be released JBL MS-8 also offer the same features as the DQL-8. And don't forget the Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2....

All of these are great Advanced units.

Are you going active with your focals?

Yeah, definitely thinking of going active but I'm not sure which amp I'm going to use to power it up. I've been looking at both the Audison VRX series and a Zapco REF 1000.4. Any other recommendations for amps?

The zapco's are AWESOME. You wont even need the DQL-8 with all their onboard processing...

Never heard audison's though... so I cant comment on them

I think the JBL MS-8 is a myth, seem like its been coming soon for months now.

Comming soon for about 2 years though... but I've been monitoring it closely. I've even talked with a Harman rep, and people that have beta tested it... it will happen... It's understaffed at the moment, because JBL wanted to focus on other DSP applications right now... but It will happen.. eventually...
